5.0 out of 5 stars A great story!, October 30, 2007

This review is from: The Heir of Mistmantle (Mistmantle Chronicles, Book 3) (Hardcover)
I haven't personally read this but my two children LOVE the series. My son is 14 and my daughter is 11. They are both almost done reading the 3rd book and hope there will be more. I think I will read them when I get some time since they like the story so much. They say it's very exciting with lots of twists and turns.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fantasy Series, January 9, 2009
I have now read all four in the Mistmantle series and I loved every one, I was first intrigued by the wonderful cover art and was soon captured by the story. Urchin and his friends have many adventures fighting for the safety and the goodness of their life. There is always Hope and HEart throughout their story. I can't wait for the next Mistmantle

5.0 out of 5 stars Mistmantle Chronicles, February 1, 2010

I love this series! I would compare it to the books by Brian Jacques but with a great spiritual underpinning. It is also similar to the Narnian Chronicles, but not as allegorical.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Heir of Mistmantle (Mistmantle Chronicles, Book 3) (Hardcover)
REVIEWED BY: Jeremy Walker, age 12

The "Mistmantle Chronicles" are enjoyble and filled with action, suspense, and adventure. In Book 1, Urchin of the Riding Stars, we are introduced to Urchin, an orphaned squirrel who saves Mistmantle from the evil Captain Husk who tried to take over from good King Brushen. In Book 2, Urchin and the Heartstone, Urchin is kidnapped and taken to the island of Whitewings where he helps to overthrow the evil King Silverbirch and his sorcerer Smokewreath. In Book 3, The Heir of Mistmantle, it is a peaceful summer on the island of Mistmantle, and the animals are busy bringing in the harvest, when the Princess Catkin is kidnapped by Mistress Linty, a nurse who has a mental disorder, and a strange disease begins to spread. Rumors start floating that Lord Husk is still alive, and some animals blame Queen Cedar because she was a "foreigner."

Meanwhile, Urchin and one friend Needle are about to join the Circle of advisors to King Crispin, and another friend, Juniper, is to become a priest. Juniper is also an orphan and overhears a deep, dark secret that will change his life forever. Will Juniper finally learn who his parents were? Is Husk really alive and causing the disease and other troubles on the island? And will Urchin and his friends be able to solve the problems facing Mistmantle and be admitted to the Circle? You will need to read the book to find out. Sometimes it made me feel happy, and other times it made me feel sad. It is a wonderful story for all ages.

great series --loved and adored by my middle school aged child. if the reader likes fantasy/scifi books by authors like : J.K. Rowling, Garth Nix, Rick Riordan,Jonathan Stroud--then this will also be a hit. these are some fantastic fantasy authors for 6-8th grade.

I received the book, The Heir of Mistmantle (Mistmantle Chronicles, Book 3) here in Germany at my APO (Army Post Office) address in a very short amount of time and the book arrived in perfect condition - I am completely satisfied with the entire transaction have only praise for the whole expereince. I bought book one of the series as well and had an equally good transaction with it. I order frequently on line and am not able to give this kind of rating to all the transactions from all vendors. Review by Mark E. Grant author of the novel - Blood of Scotland (also available through Amazon.com).

4.0 out of 5 stars Heir of Mistmantle, July 19, 2011
M.I. McAllister can write an exciting, dramatic story! Though it doesn't beat Redwall, Mistmantle Chronicles is great in its own right. In Book #3, Princess Catkin suddenly goes missing, and when everyone goes searching for her, odd things begin to happen. An odd disease sweeps over the island (the cause is hinted in the first few chapters), Queen Cedar seems to go mad, and some of the island-folk begin to gossip and rumors spread that, since Cedar is from another island, she might be the carrier of the disease...and Mistmantle is doomed. It is also wondered fearfully if Husk is still alive and is searching for revenge...along with all of this, Juniper discovers his lineage, and it haunts him. This was a page-turner and an excellently written story with drama and lovable characters. I would highly recommend the Mistmantle Chronicles to those who enjoy Redwall or Warriors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this series!!, July 5, 2010
I was given the first book as a Mothers Day gift a few years ago, (as I am a great animal lover and wildlife rehabilitator specializing in squirrels) and have since read all but the last book and I cannot wait for the next one to come out! Each one is better than the previous, as you get to know the cast of characters! I cannot wait to share them with my young granchildren! I would highly reccommend them to young and old! Keep them coming!
