5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Christmas Stocking book for the expert stitcher
I have made 5 or 6 of these stockings and always get rave reviews about them. I did the sewing room stocking for myself and the little girls room for my daughter. I wish that BH & G would also do one with easier stockings. I know the the original folder patterns for these have another stocking with them and they are much easier for a beginner. It would be nice if...

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is not available to everyone.
I have been searching for this reprint. I came across the notice that said it was available from BHG. I called the 800 phone number and ordered the book. My order was taken along with a credit card number and told that it would be shipped out to me. I waited and waited . Finally one day a post card arrived from BHG. They will not ship to Canada because of the high cost of...

5.0 out of 5 stars A family tradition, June 21, 2004
This review is from: Heirloom Christmas Stockings in Cross-Stitch: From Cross Stitch & Country Crafts Magazine (Paperback)
This is an awesome book. The first stocking came out the year I was born, so my mom made it for me. The when they decided to make it a series, she made the next one for my sister. And the for my brother-in-law, niece, and nephew. Now I am making one for my oldest son, but didn't have any of the other patterns to make one for my youngest. I am so glad to have foud this book! It has nine patterns for beautiful Christmas stockings. I wish I'd known about it before I spent days serching for ack issues of the magazines.

Originally created the Holiday Study stocking from an issue of Cross Stitch & Country Crafts Magazine in 2000 for an elderly relative. After his death, recycled it for a young train lover by picking out the original name and re-naming it. Now, I have grandbabies and stepchildren for whom I need stockings.

Looking forward to creating the Sugar and Spice, Toys and Games, Home For the Holidays, and North Woods stockings for our new additions. If you can find this book, JUMP on it! It's SO fabulous! I feel SO fortunate to have purchased it for $6 on Amazon. I'm not certain, but I believe I spent more than $6 for the one magazine I purchased in 2000. This book is a GEM!

Very detailed patterns but clear and easy to follow.
Stockings are indeed heirlooms as each takes hours of stitching.

This book is a beautiful book that contains 9 of the heirloom stockings patterns featured in the 1980's and 1990's 'Country Crafts & Cross stitch".
I have made two of them myself so far, and even if one does not have the patience to do the whole stocking, there are many smaller projects that one can do as well.
Very nice book, greatly recommended!

I just received my NEW book (1999) from Amazon and it is in excellent condition. The full-view cross-stitch Christmas stockings, which were first published by Better Homes & Gardens "Cross Stitch & Country Crafts", are amazing. My mother has done 5 of them. They are absolutely beautiful and make wonderful keepsakes. If you are looking for a particular stocking pattern, this book has the following themes: Holiday Workshop/Toys/Noah's Ark, Winter Night Window/Christmas Tree/Rocking Horse, Music Room/Piano/Base/Horns, Old-Time Kitchen, Cozy Living Room/Fireplace/Teddy Bear, Girl's Room/Tea Party/Baby Carriage/Doll House/Teddy Bears/Dolls, Sewing Room, Toys & Games, Old-Time Study/Antique Truck/Train/Clock. I only wish all of the magazine's awesome stockings were in this book (like the Doll and Fishing themes).

5.0 out of 5 stars Love these stockings, September 25, 2011
This review is from: Heirloom Christmas Stockings in Cross-Stitch: From Cross Stitch & Country Crafts Magazine (Paperback)
I received these cross-stitch stocking patterns from the BH&G Magazine when it was being published. It took me a couple of years to work up the courage to do my first of nine stockings for my family. With the completion of each stocking I entered them in the Utah State Fair and have taken either first or second place on them. Which makes it all the more special for the person that has received them. I would recommend doing these stockings, even though they do take a lot of time and patience. But the end work is SO worth it.
