This review is from: Prints, 1961-79 (Icon) (Hardcover)
This book covers Frankenthaler's artistic output in her latter years. A mature artist who can allow for some experimentation. Providing a thorough documentation of the artist's 'graphic' work. Also showing her printmaking procedures from conception through final impression. The text focuses on her work during the last 25 years of her print work output.187 b&w reproductions, 16 full color raisonne and commentary on the artwork. And her comments regarding her concoctions of house paint, turpentine, kerosene, diluted oils - brought forth from various recruited containers. Interviews andLiberal articulations regarding a wide myriad of art subjects. What she though about pollack, Gorky, her canvas, technical print possibilities, etc. Quite a fun book. I would have liked more color reproductions. A handsomer book is Frankenthaler - an artists retrospective. |
