Very easy to learn to fly!
William D. Diones
Lots of trimming required to get it to fly right, and if any moderate pitch controls are input, you basically lose all trim.
Trent
The charging time isn't too terribly long, and with conservative usage, a single charge can last as long as 8 minutes.

We bought this for our kids age 10 and 8 for Christmas. They love it. There is a learning curve, maybe a couple hours. Our Kids figured how to level it by adjusting the trim. The remote control is very sensitive, will take some time to get used to it. It's robust, doesn't break when it crashes. When fully charged, it can fly for a satisfying amount of time.

I bought this at Costco a few months ago and it stays in my office for an occasional stress relief/flight. I've let my kids, buddies and their kids try it out. Dependent on the skill levels everyone has different experiences. Most kids crash it pretty good, but with practice and adult supervision can get going. I'd probably recommend at least 12 years old, depending on the natural knack of the user. I've been flying RC for several years. That aside, this is as entry level as you can get. The batteries in the transmitter last forever and the Heliquad charges off of USB. You get about 5 minutes per charge and then you have to leave it alone for a bit. that's not a big deal in my book. Great bang for the buck and it really takes a beating. I don't know why the other user couldn't get the trims to setup properly for him. For the beginners you need to not use the ALT button, make sure slider is pushed down to Reg, (not Pro,) Gently push up on left stick and adjust the left/right forward/back and rotate trims until it stays as close to a non-moving hover as possible. Then you're trimmed. From there it's slow and easy and anyone should be able to get the hang of it. Have fun!

For the money, you are better off getting a different quad like a Syma X5C or a Hubsan X4. Its fun to fly, but its performance compared to others is sub-par. Lots of trimming required to get it to fly right, and if any moderate pitch controls are input, you basically lose all trim. Terrible outdoors if any wind at all. Really easy to lose control and end up fishing it out of a tree. Not bad if it was a gift to you for learning to fly, but I wouldnt recommend buying one.

Like some others I had a problem getting it to fly straight. I discovered after many frustrating flights that if you crash you usually need to turn it off and turn it back on (the quad and the controller). This seems to initialize everything so it will fly right again. Before I started doing this no matter how far I adjusted the trim it would still fly in a direction I had unintended. I still have a little problem getting it to hover accurately but I can now fly it easily. I could probably get it to hover if I spent time with the trim. I wish they had put this in the manual.

Found now I don't have to actually power off and back on to stabilize it. All that is necessary is to let it sit for a few seconds after a crash to give the quad time to re-calibrate. I've flown this thing probably about 50 times and it's great indoors. Not so great for outdoors. Any wind will send this off course and you'll have to counter it. After having this now for many months I would recommend for flying indoors in larger areas.

It's good for beginners. Just don't fly in the wind. Otherwise it's fun and durable. I also like the blade protectors. Saves on having to replace them.

Flys great at speed. I'm imposed with how well it works in moderate wind. It can ttake some calibration to get a perfect hover indoors. Flip fiction is kind gimicky but can potentially causeawesome stunts of canceled just right. I got it stick in a tree a free times and had some hard landings and it has never had any damage. I really wish it had a swappable battery because 7ish minutes in the air goes by fast. Only gripe is no camera. Tip: always use pro mode. Otherwise no lateral movement
