Book Description

One riot, one Ranger is the motto for the Texas Rangers. Sometimes a Ranger gets more than he bargained for when Wes Raincloud has his hands full with a pack of renegade Comanche’s, a gang of outlaws and a woman who’s wanted for bank robbery and murder. He soon discovers that the Indians and the outlaws were easy compared to the woman. How was he supposed to arrest her after she’d captured his heart?

Heather Stanford is on the run for crimes she didn’t do and doesn’t know who she can trust. Assuming a dead woman’s identity, she finds herself in the constant company of a Texas Ranger who not only saves her life, but makes her want to surrender herself into his custody for life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprising Read! August 15, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
WARNING - This book should be for adult readers only and has nothing to do with werewolves.

This was a free offering from Amazon. I have to say I was very surprised, pleasantly, by this book. Since "Wolf Pack" was in the title, I had assumed that this was another book having to do with werewolves or shifters of some sort. After reading the book, I totally get the title reference to Wolf Pack, but felt a bit mislead that the book has nothing to do with paranormal. From the first few words, I realized it was set in the old west, a period I truly am in love with. I was thinking how clever to have a historical were wolf. I was wrong, but the story grabbed me and I couldn't stop until I finished. Heather Stanford goes to bring her father home from the bank he runs. Leaving the bank, her father and Heather happen upon someone going in the back of the back to rob it. Her father is stabbed and killed, she sees that the man doing the robbing and killing her father just happens to be her fiance, Roger. He threatens to kill the rest of her family if she doesn't go through with the wedding and keep his involvement a secret. Afraid of what will happen, she goes on the run, discovering that she is now the one being accused of robbing the bank and killing her father. From a train she takes the first stagecoach out with two other passengers, a salesman and a mail order bride, only to have it attacked and every one left for dead. The half breed Indian Texas Ranger Wes Raincloud, is tracking a war party of Comanches, happens upon the stagecoach accident. Frightened of being arrested Heather switches identities with the mail order bride that has died in their stage coach accident. Then, they are attacked by Indians.

Paul Martin and I "Friended" each other on Facebook before I ever learned that he was a Writer. I originally purchased "Hell Bent for Heather" as an act of friendship and support, and was really glad that I had done so once I read it ! Paul's easy mix of Romance and Adventure, combined with an authentic and creditable Western setting, are the ingredients for a story that I really enjoyed, so this won't be the last of The Wolf Pack Books that I purchase.
