Revenge is sweet . . . and easy: Just visit the Hell Girl’s website, and this goddess of damnation will drag your enemy into the inferno. And some people will do anything for revenge. 3.0 out of 5 stars boring, December 21, 2008
this volume was really boring.it has ai's past in it,which miyuki eto got perfectly(pretty much the only thing that she got right)the chapters were very boring and they all have romance in it!hellgirl isnt a romance!if you never watched the anime then you could be quit miss lead(sorry if im spelling things wrong im tired.)the problems about this manga all to geather is:1.the huge freakishly large eyes all the characters have, not very fit for hell girl.2.the unesiseary amount of screen tones, and the lak of backround such as buildings and plants, there just filled up with screen tones.3.the careless thought of going to hell from the characters they dont try to solve there problems as much as they can before calling up hellgirl.4.enma ai always wears a different uniform instead of the one she waers in the anime.also shes suppost to be exspresionless but she looks mad in the manga and she seems to be smiling at the end of each chapter.all in all no matter how much the manga has ruined the image the hellgirl you cant resist the next volume,so you can you can make fun of it!!no im joking, even large eyes are good for some parts in hellgirl but i really hope miyuki eto works harder on this than she has,and if its still the same i would draw it my self but of course im not aloud to do that. i think volume 5 is going to be the best one becuase i saw it on the jigoku shoujo(hell girl) website we will just have to see.

4.0 out of 5 stars Steadily getting better..., August 12, 2008
While the story rarely wavers from the same cycle: person (usually a girl) gets wronged, they call up Hell Girl, & then go to hell in exchange for the services. However, this volume shows more of people who are truly deserving of recieving Hell Girl's wrath & people who are willing to exchange their souls to get justice. While there are still a few who don't really seem to have a good enough reason to damn their souls for eternity, the stories are so well written that it seems plausible enough for them to actually call on Hell Girl.

Also, finally, we see someone who calls on Hell Girl only to then change their mind. It's refreshing to see it, since previously all of the stories have followed the same formula. We also get a peek into Hell Girl's past and how she became whom she is today.

All in all, this volume is pretty darn good. Not perfect, but it's still good. The character development has been laid, all the series needs now is to start moving into more plot development. People who are expecting more action or for things to actually happen will be sorely dissapointed.
