5.0 out of 5 stars Helping to endure the pain
Tom Tomorrow helps us survive in This Modern World with his unique political satire. You'll laugh, you'll groan, you'll be enraged at the madness of our times. Buy this book and see the light!

Irony, sarcasm, satire - it's all here. I can think of so many people who ought to read this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very bland.
This book isn't funny at all. Mr. Tomorrow's comics have appeared in my local paper for years, and today, in 2006, he's as predictable as ever. By the time you've read the third panel, you know what will happen in the last one. I'm all for well-done satire of the Bush administraton (see Colbert, Stephen), but this is not an example of such. I give this book two stars...

Thanks Tom Tomorrow for a nice piece of work; much appreciated. With all the s*** that is going on right now, it's nice to know that I/we aren't alone in thinking that, yes, the world is going to "Hell in a Handbasket". I can barely stomach the nightly news or paper anymore, and it's been that way for quite some time. The laughs this book gave me lifted my spirits and made me feel like maybe I wasn't quite so alone. Everyone with a brain AND heart should read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars delightful and prescient, March 27, 2006

The book is hilarious and Tom Tomorrow has had his wonderfully sardonic finger on the pulse of the Bush administration and its cronies and helpmeets from the beginning. He's a rare laugh in these bleak times. Highly recommended.

heh I've always loved Tom Tomorrow's comics and this latest installment does NOT disappoint. Of course, this current adminstration gives him SO much material to work with, maybe we could use part of the revenues to pay down the national debt =P Whaddya say Dan?

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and all too poignant, May 24, 2006
By
This review is from: Hell in a Handbasket (Paperback)
Tom Tomorrow is one of the most underappreciated satirists of our time. For years now he has taken devastating aim at the often shocking amorality of the people in power, as well as the pundits and toadies who spin the government's agenda. He does it with quick wit, a sharp eye, and a refreshing sense of honest outrage.

You won't see his work in your local paper, however. It's far too biting for the mainstream McMedia. Therefore Tomorrow has always been relegated to the alternative press, and while there's nothing wrong with that, it's preaching to the choir most of the time.

Buy this book and put it where people will see it, especially people who think the current administration is doing a "kind of OK job." It will stimulate discussion and it will give you some laughs, which is definitely a good deal for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very funny and very accurate!, May 24, 2006
This review is from: Hell in a Handbasket (Paperback)
I love this book! Tom Tomorrow has an uncanny ability to skewer our media and our administration with almost surgical precision. He uses his ability to see the absurdity in what is going on around us (paired with his intelligence, wit and a great sense of humor) to come up with panels that make you laugh, even when you should be outraged.

Looking back over the events depicted in this book, it is also interesting to see how many of his "predictions" have come true.

If you have never heard of Tom Tomorrow, then you owe it to yourself to buy this book!

Sometimes when the exploits of BushCo becomes a little to depressing for me, I turn to political humor like that offered up by Tom Tomorrow to bring a little glimmer of a smile to my weary progressive soul. He is incisive, instructional, and informative. And he has an edge that may be sharp, but is always brutally accurate and uncannily insightful. I also love his wackily retro drawing style that seems to have been lifted from an alternate 1950s universe and plopped down in our far too serious present. This book is one of the best collections of political cartoons since Herblock put down his pen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Satire and entertaining to boot, May 24, 2006
This review is from: Hell in a Handbasket (Paperback)
Tom Tomorrow is in overdrive in this last collection of cartoons which in many ways not only document the craziness of the last 5 years but also predict many of its bizarre outcomes. Highly recommended.
