A great book in this triology. I loved it and highly recommend the
journey that Jeremy has taken. Excellent writing and a real page turner.

VERY DISAPPOINTING, VERY CONFUSING,

I have been a fan of Wendi Corsi Staub and I have enjoyed her novels over the years, but her last book is a huge disappointment. The first 30 pages are crammed with so many characters and their (over the top) back-stories it made my head spin and left me very confused, going back and forth to try to figure out who was who and who did what. I eventually gave up after reading 70 pages. I'll definitely check out the reviews for her next book before buying it. I hope she hasn't lost her touch for good.

started out fair, got boring,

Story does not develop at a steady pace, too much repeat repeat about the incident of kidnapping and abuse as children, too much explaining everything and always too much descriptions not necessary. There are too many characters and you have to sort out - brothers, sisters, families, friends, and so on and so on and how are they all connected then go back and repeat repeat repeat. Half way of book I was just bored and quit it. Also chapters are too long, this could've been cut down about 100 pages and maybe the story would've been more interesting, I just got to the point---I didn't care about any of them.

Disappointing,
This review is from: Hell to Pay (Mass Market Paperback)
I was really disappointed in this conclusion to the trilogy. I felt the murderder's identity was obvious right from the start, which made the book lose all its suspense. And while I agree with other reviewers that too much time was spent giving back story on some of the characters, I felt there were others where not enough back story was given, which not only made the book confusing at points, but also made you wonder why certain key details were happening.I usually love this author, but wasn't impressed with this trilogy at all.

Really Hard To Get Through,

Normally I like this author's books, but I had such a hard time trying to remember the characters from "that former book," and just not able to do it. I don't know if it's been too long since the original book that laid the foundation or what, but other than the names and a few other things, it was like I was reading a different book. I really struggled through this whole book until the ending which was so exciting, I was glad I hung on. Save your money - Don't be disappointed.

Great series,
This review is from: Hell to Pay (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved this book! I have read many of Ms. Staub's books and have always wanted her to write sequels for her suspence books. Although I'm not a huge "romance" fan I loved how she, under Wendy Markham, put together the Slightly Single book series. I really appreciated how she tied in the back story for my leaky 50 year old brain so I didn't have to pull the first two books off the shelf for reminders... I like how the "twist" came late in the book. As I smugly thought I had it all figured out the plot twists and reveals. I think this is a perect beach/airplane series. Nothing too heady or wordy just really, really entertaining, which for me, is PERFECT.

As always, Wendy does not disappoint! Amazing read! The author's ability to keep my attention from cover to cover is a task-one accomplished in He'll to Pay. Love it!

I couldn't put it down and found myself reading deep into the night. I have read a number of Wendy Corsi Staub's books and she has become one of my favorite authors. She draws me in with her complex characters and unpredictable twists and turns. I would highly recommend "Hell to Pay"!

Exceptional conclusion to the trilogy,

Staub is well known for her depictions of women in peril, and Lucy Walsh is a particularly strong example of this. Not only does her mom-to-be status ensure a palpable sense of vulnerability, but her familiarity as a returning character also evokes a strong sympathetic response in the reader. Other personalities reappear throughout the book, as well--sometimes expectantly and sometimes not--resulting in a menagerie of familiar faces that are often surprising in their actions and intent.
This premise lends itself beautifully to the story at hand, as Staub infuses new blood (if you'll pardon the expression) into a series that could easily have drifted into the ordinary. Rather, the ten year gap in time coupled with the shift in focus takes the story in exciting and unexpected new directions. It also allows the author to examine the after-effects of the bloodshed, deception and dysfunction that punctuated the events of the first two books--a penetrating perspective that should give readers pause to consider the consequences of real-world situations even as they strive furiously to assemble the pieces of Staub's intricately crafted puzzle. With this book, Staub offers an exceptional conclusion to a well-executed and often unpredictable trilogy. She methodically brings the story full circle, merging past and present in a terrifying series of events that reminds us that one person's happy ending often comes at the expense of somebody else's. As unsettling a truth as this may be, it's one that needs to be reckoned with. Because if it's not, there just may be Hell to Pay... [...]
