3.0 out of 5 stars OK if you have nothing better to do....., March 29, 2010
Dorothy Glenn, aka Dorothy Garlock, wrote this book back in 1990. Lumberman Sam Ferguson needs to find and bring home his brother's fiancee Elizabeth Caldwell. Stephen Ferguson is injured and Sam is left with the unwanted task of buying a large piece of equipment that his father and he need for their business -AND- taking care of Elizabeth until he can unload her. The trip that he goes on to do this is too long for his taste.

Dated, it is a mild romance about the chemistry between two people who want but don't like each other. Elizabeth's first experience with Sam is when he is drunk. Sam thinks Elizabeth is "prissy", used too often by the author and a word I learned to hate by the end of the book. Perhaps Sam could have been thought of as a "hell raiser" two decades ago but now I appears to be just a confused man who needs to grow up. Elizabeth finally realizes her true feelings toward Stephen and what kind of relationship she wants with Sam if he'll have her.

It was alright and I guess if you are a die-hard fan of Ms. Garlock aka Glenn you'll want to read this book. Don't spend big money, try to find it at a used book store, thrift shop or your local library. For everyone else it is so-so and there are better historical romances. Try WHERE THE WIND BLOWS by Caroline Fyffe if you are in a mood to read something pleasant.

I love hugging. I wish I was an octopus, so I could hug 10 people at a time! -Drew Barrymore
