5.0 out of 5 stars I love this band! and this album!
I didnt know who this band was until my husband talked me into listening to a punk sampler CD he got while in Iraq. I loved them! 3.0 out of 5 stars Good Effort
The Horrorpops are still finding their way musically. This is a good thing, except that they have a few veterans in their band who should already know the dusty back roads to psychobilly-ville. But okay... The weak tracks? "Kool Flat-top" and "Ghouls". The former because it sounds like filler and should have been left on the cutting room floor. The latter because of...

I didnt know who this band was until my husband talked me into listening to a punk sampler CD he got while in Iraq. I loved them! We listen to punk and rockabilly alot... and I like this band because they have a varied taste in music which obviously influenced them but also because they DO different things with their own music and dont just stick to the traditional sound of rockabilly and "psychobilly". Theyre a breath of fresh air. And it sure helps to have a front WOMAN not man. Their new album comes out Sept 13, 2005 and I can hardly wait!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hope I don't get sick of it..., October 1, 2004

I've been listening to this album for a couple of days now and I'm really digging it. Its bouncy and fun. There's enough variation in the tracks so that they don't all sound the same and the energy is good. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it is so catchy and so "pop" that I'm afraid I'll get burned out on it. I'm not sure why some people wrote that they liked the first half of the album but not the second half. "Dotted With Hearts" has a great sound, like listening to music from "Grease" with power. The surf sound of "Horrorbeach" is cool and "Emotional Abuse" is really sultry. Well, everyone is different. I'd recommend this album. I've sent copies to a couple other people already.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hell Yeah! is right!, May 10, 2006
This review is from: Hell Yeah (Audio CD)
This band is one of the most talented to make an appearance in this century. Miss Patricia Day Makes the band, in my opinion. Shes a talented beautiful singer who can play her bass worth a damn and actually has quite a diverse style of playing as well. Her slaps are well timed and placed in the songs, and the vocals nhance this.
Not only is she talented, but the rest of the band is as well. How Often is it that a band comes out of nowhere not only playing older style music, but singing about horror movies? And, not to mention again, doing it well. The songs are diverse and skillfully mastered, and the Horrorpops show no signs of let-downs any time soon.
Great talent and skill can be found in this band. Pick this one up!

The latter because of that totally annoying ska pentameter. The sad part about "Ghouls" is that the chorus is very good --it's just wrapped up in a crappy song.

Overall, the songs are quite good.

"Psychobitches Outta' Hell" is pure and perfect for those of us who want a female vocalist for a change from the plethora of Elvis-sound alikes or fake-country-accents in the scene --something I refer to as the Green Day, or Madonna effect (regarding phony affectations).

Horrorpops' lead singer is a little bit restricted in her vocal range and the album as a whole has some rough spots. But cut them some slack. Musically they got it. This first complete album is a good effort. Hopefully they'll improve on it by puting their focus on what works.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sooooo Booooored, December 9, 2010

I bought Bring It On a few months back, and I absolutely love it! So, I decided to buy Hell Yeah based on that. I was so disappointed! This CD is just plain boring. There is little variation between songs, and it feels like the lead singer didn't change her tone, pitch or inflection throughout the entire album. Especially disappointing is Psychobitches Outta Hell, since if they had put any effort into making it a good song instead of just a song, it could have served as an anthem to an entire demographic of chicks (like me). So much potential was wasted with this CD. I would advise people to just buy Bring It On, and leave this one alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely, May 7, 2006
This review is from: Hell Yeah (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite CDs.. Every single one of the songs on the CD are different and unique, but not to the extent that it sounds like a mix CD. The band's style of music matches up so perfectly with their lyrics.

Basically, it makes me want to jump on a table and dance.

In March, I saw the Horrorpops open for The Offspring in Amsterdam. They made an impression: by April I had seen five shows, including one in their home town Copenhagen.

Not often does a debut album of a band have such a big amount of quality without the typical over-production sound present with so many new artists. Whether it's punk, ska, surf or good old rock and roll, the band delivers. But the Horrorpops are best on stage: tattooed to the bone, go-go girls flirting with the audience, Patricia slamming the upright bass, Kim Nekroman with an awesome Horrorbeach guitar solo.. it's all there.

And don't worry about being a one-time act: the Horrorpops are currently on tour again in Europe with new go-go Naomi (Mille will be missed though) and going back to the studio later this fall for a second album.

If you're into any kind of rock music or guitar sound, Hell Yeah! will look great in your collection, mixing the best of various genres.

"Drama Queen" 4/5
"Ghouls" 4/5
"Girl In A Cage" 3/5
"Misstake" 4/5
"Where They Wonder" 5/5
"Cool Flat Top" 3/5
"Psychobitches Outta Hell" 2/5
"Dotted With Hearts" 5/5
"Baby Lou Tattoo" 4/5
"What's Under My Bed?" 3/5
"Emotional Abuse" 3/5
"Horrorbeach" 4/5

The Horrorpops have created a great psychobilly album in "Hell Yeah." Patricia's voice, combined with great riffs courtesy of Kim Nekroman, produce very catchy songs. Highlights include "Dotted With Hearts," "Julia," and "Where They Wonder."

Overall rating: Three and a half stars.
