5.0 out of 5 stars A great indie band, August 30, 2005
These dudes rule. Flat out. The coolest band from Iowa besides, The Slats and The Teddy Boys. I recommend this c.d. to anyone who like cool garage rock played very well! THE BENT SCEPTERS forever!

5.0 out of 5 stars Caveat Emptor, September 30, 2000
A little bird told me that this band broke up because one of its members left mysteriously and went to live in the French Alps. Now, I don't know if this is true or not, but if it is I want to believe that this missing man is just in hiding for awhile--you know, in a state of deep meditation in some remote mountain hut. I want to believe that someday, when the time is right, this band will re-emerge from its slumber like the phoenix from the ashes. Because the fact is, the Bent Scepters (for lack of a better word) ROCK. And Hellevator Music is simply the latest refinement of this band's uncanny knack for creating dirty, supercharged garage rock that'll rip you out of your seat, drag you feet first to the dance floor and leave you there until you've sweat all three of those vodka martinis out of your system and are still screaming for more. Buy this CD and beware: You too will become a fanatic, and you will scour the earth for Blind Date With Destiny (both versions), and maybe even sell your soul just to listen to the all-but-extinct Bikinis, Guitars and Martinis cassette. You will start believing in UFOs and aliens that look like supermodels. You will own the entire Planet of the Apes series on DVD. And you will be convinced that some day, somewhere, when you least expect it, the Bent Scepters will come out of hiding and take over the world! Don't say I didn't warn you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hellevator Music a nice way to go out., July 25, 2000

(REAL NAME)
Though this album is not quite as good as "Blind Date with Destiny" it is still a good album, and a good way for them to go out. Some of the essential songs on this album include "Instant Peter Sellers" "Above the Law" and "My Toyota." I bought this album at their very last show, and it only makes me miss them even more.
