5.0 out of 5 stars No Comparison!, March 20, 2003

All I have to say is that I fisrt heard The Living End about four years ago and they are still my favorte band today. As a seasoned music lover, I have to admite these guys really know what music is all about. not only are they incredibly musically talented, but they also have the uncanny ability to NOT sound like everyone else. Like oh migod! thats the greatest part. Mainstream music is built to find a sound that people react to and make everyone else sound just like it so they make more money. the tight thing about these punks is they are more talented than any of the pop junk thats out there now and they have such a distinct sound, a quality of music that has been sadly missed for a few decades. These guys deserve more props than they have, Joe Strummer sould be proud!

5.0 out of 5 stars These Aussies know where it's at., November 8, 2001

Powerful Lyrics! Great Music! True Talent, these guys are awesome! Personal Fav: Headlines. Punk? I don't know, more like pure Rock, they have a sound that is unlike most today. They are great live. Roll On and The Living End, show how much they have developed as artists (the drummer was a diff guy on Hellbound). Poetry put to music.

Comparing them to Green Day, is a waste of time. The Living End is in a class all their own.

5.0 out of 5 stars ten times better than green day, March 21, 2001

many people compare this band to green day. and this makes me want to vomit all over myself. they are a million times more talented than green day and the music is better too. it is also not the same type of music. the only similarity is that the singer sounds a little like that of green day, but he is much better. i Do like green day. but there are few bands who have the talent that the living end has, and none that sound like them.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Aussie punk i've heard in awhile!, May 16, 2000

all i gotta say, is this band is awesome! i've had this CD since about a week after it came out, and i've been a true Living End fan ever since. I play bass guitar a lot, and for the first time, there are songs on a CD that i just can't figure out because they are so difficult (not to mention they kick total a$$). They have been my favorite band since i heard Trace of Doubt, the first track, on this CD. I can't even describe the energy you can get just by listening to it. And don't even listen to the people who say that they are "just a cross between Green Day and The Offspring". They are WAY more than that!

The living end have been amongst the aussie rock scene for ten years now and have yet to dissapoint. This cd (or in my case 2 different Eps)were just the beginning for these guys,It doesnt have the same borderline commercial edge the later stuff does but thats not what matters. What matters are that these guys have Talent and a lot of it,Alot of bands these days get success with 3 chords mediocre songwriting and awful lyrics,This band have far surpassed all that. Here we have 12 (or 6 depending on which Format you picked them up)tracks. The first disc in my view is alot better especially the instrumental track hellbound which shows the band at thier most creative.I was even pleasantly surprised to see a Cure Cover (10:15 saturday night)amongst them.If you are looking for 3 chord pop with songs about ex girlfriends and skateboards avoid this band,They are far beyond that. They are 3 brilliant musicians making great pyscho/punk/rockabilly style music.Hell even elvis fans would probably enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Living end is great, November 4, 2001

Anybody who compares these guys to green day or offspring should be (...). There is not a band I have heard that even compares to the living end. This album shows how diverse a rock band can be. From the Stray cats to The Clash to The Police and adding their own special ingredient mixing it all into a blender. It's all amazing I just wish they would have stuck with this style. Instead of simplifing there sound. Anyway they were on hbo's reverb not too long ago they were great.

I love these cd's. The Living End is an awesome band and these are possably their best albums. "From Here on In," and "Misspent Youth" are outstanding songs with a great punk/rockabilly sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars Australia's #1 Punk-Rockers, December 25, 1999
By
This review is from: Hellbound (Disc 1)/ It's For Your Own Good (Disc 2) (Audio CD)
The first CD in this box set is classic Living End with a raw sound as if it was recorded in a garage. The second CD, which is always in my CD changer, sounds much more like the Living End's most recent release. In all, this is a great box set... and, if you haven't heard the Living End, just imagine what Australia's version of Green Day would be... but with more meaningful lyrics.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good supplement to the 1st album, July 10, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hellbound (Disc 1)/ It's For Your Own Good (Disc 2) (Audio CD)
I have been a Living End fan since the very first time i heard "Prisoner of Society" back in '98. I have all of their albums, and while i think they're great albums, i can't help but feel that they've become somewhat commercialized, and can't really relate to what Cheney sings about on "State of Emergency" like i could on their first album. Well, "It's For Your Own Good" is pretty much like 6 butt-kicking B-Sides to the first album, or at least that's what it sounds like. And "Hellbound" is a fun little glimpse into what this amazing band was like when they were just starting out. Overall, it's always good to remember what big bands used to sing about before they were big, and this double disk is pretty much just that.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best band, April 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Hellbound (Disc 1)/ It's For Your Own Good (Disc 2) (Audio CD)
This is a kick a** band with two great release. I have never heard a song except for prisoner of society that was as good as from here on in, words cannot express how great it is. This is an awesome band that needs more recognition. If you like any type of punk or fast music you will most likely love these cds, i listen to them everyday. Buy it, you'll like it and will want to buy their more recent self titled release.
