5.0 out of 5 stars
An interesting and extreamly heavy take on black metal...,
This review is from: Hellbrigade (Audio CD)
This is simply unlike anything ive ever heard before, wonderful black/death metal with fairly good production, and pounding pace. They kindof have that at the gates feel with a naglfar like atmousphere. Great cd

In my neverending, desperate search for the most extreme music I can find, I'm almost invariably disappointed. Time and time again, I find a trade-off of sorts. Albums that display any musicianship always seem to promise a gut-wrenching thrill ride. The mercury rises to the top, but never bursts the glass. It's kind of like sex, but your partner quits right before you climax. Likewise, sheer brutality only seems to come from talentless apes who think blast beats and bar chords constitute a good album. It's kind of like that sex with someone who does a lot of bouncing around, but obviously has no idea what the hell they're doing. Very seldom do I find a band that can effectively mix sheer unadulterated ferocity with melody. I am pleased to report that Centinex's "Hellbrigade" does just that. It's difficult to pin down exactly the genre in which Centinex belongs. They oscillate between black and death metal, taking the best elements of both and melding them into something that would have any extreme music aficionado walking around with a perpetual hard-on. If you're into heavy music (and I don't mean Korn here, ladies and germs), this CD will be like the best sex you've ever had. |
