HELL hath FURY !!!,
By Robert (Utah) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hellcats, Vixens, & Vicedolls: Women, Crime, and Kink of the Fifties (Paperback)
These femme fatales of the 1950's have their marching orders...to lie, cheat, steal, seduce and manipulate to get what they deserve - which is anything and everything they can get their greedy little mitts on!
These true stories show the reader the darker side of women in the 1950's - where these hard-boiled criminals stalk in the shadows, some first making the appearance of a sweet little kitten, but eventually all let their the claws cut people in their way to ribbons! A great book for any fan of true crime noir!

Bad Girls Done Right!,
By S. Michael Wilson "A Strange Hero to a Select... (Phillipsburg, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hellcats, Vixens, & Vicedolls: Women, Crime, and Kink of the Fifties (Paperback)
Bad girls and tough dames have always been a cornerstone of crime drama both in print and on the big screen. While that truth has held fast throughout the years, never were the girls so gritty and dangerous as they were in the fifties, and this book is living proof of that.
This collection of stories ripped right of the scandal rags of the fifties is sure to please any fan of the hardcore sleaze writing that most modern authors can only attempt to emulate. A must read, to say the least.

50 tales of blood and lust,
By Shelby (usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hellcats, Vixens, & Vicedolls: Women, Crime, and Kink of the Fifties (Paperback)
From the repressed 1950s (playground of the alpha male) come hardboiled tales of desperate and abused women pushed to their breaking point by a series of rough men and unfortunate events. Striking back at society with the only weapon they know (a gun, frying pan, saw, knife or sex), their criminal deeds do not go unpunished. Prison, the death chamber, or the morgue awaits all hellcats, vixens and vice dolls that cut a bloody path through 1950s' crime.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hellcats, Vixens, & Vicedolls: Women, Crime, and Kink of the Fifties (Paperback)
Gathered from police and detective magazines of the 1950s, this collection of fifty hard-boiled "women gone wrong" tales has more than enough sleaze, violence and sex to give Sergeant Joe Friday a wet dream. With titles like: Bloody Barbara, She Sawed Off His Head, The Sex Party Racket, and One Thousand Thugs and a Girl, HELLCATS, VIXENS, AND VICE DOLLS will surely entertain and horrify even the most jaded true crime readers.

Sexy and Brutal,
By Chris (Burbank, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hellcats, Vixens, & Vicedolls: Women, Crime, and Kink of the Fifties (Paperback)
A fast (as in "easy") and furious (as in "will cut your head off with a band saw if she thinks you are cheating on her") collection of 50, 1950s hellcats running wild and taking a bite out of every thing in their path, only to be corralled and caged by a legion of clean-shaven boys in blue. These cases are the very best in vintage crime reporting.

Murders from the Fifties.,
By Tyler245 (Washington, D.C.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hellcats, Vixens, & Vicedolls: Women, Crime, and Kink of the Fifties (Paperback)
If you are in the mood for a crime novel that is sent in the 1950s and explores the depths of degradation and reckless brutality in a woman's soul, I would suggest Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door. But if you prefer your1950s' murders and mutilations to be 100% factual, and 10 times more vicious, then look no further... this book is for you!

Oh why didn't I read this book before I got married!,
By Fred W. (Albany, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hellcats, Vixens, & Vicedolls: Women, Crime, and Kink of the Fifties (Paperback)
Do you know what they call men who are completely ambiguous to the violence and wanton cruelty that women can inflict on the world? Bachelors! Or suckers. Don't be a sucker, wise up and order this volume of female fueled aggression - it just could save your (night) life.

Killers in fishnets and garters,
By David "Dave" (Asheville, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hellcats, Vixens, & Vicedolls: Women, Crime, and Kink of the Fifties (Paperback)
With all the intensity and drama of a dozen Eugene O'Neil plays, and sporting writing style reminiscent of a black and white DRAGNET episode, HELLCATS is sure to tickle the fancy of any true crime buff; especially those who like lurid tales of sex, violence and death --- and sometimes not it that order.

Innocence lost and Hatred found!!!,
By Steve (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hellcats, Vixens, & Vicedolls: Women, Crime, and Kink of the Fifties (Paperback)
These ***TRUE*** stories of some of the most wild and deranged women of the 1950's are collected from the scandal rags of the day into one rip-roaring new edition!!!
While many people assume that criminals only come from the male side of evolution, we are reminded, once again, that there was an EVE to the ADAM, and some of her descendants must be among these sultry deviants. An outstanding collection of a different slice of TRUE CRIME - a must have!

The names have NOT been changed, for no one is innocent,
By Mark (Hampton, NH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hellcats, Vixens, & Vicedolls: Women, Crime, and Kink of the Fifties (Paperback)
The no-nonsense, just the facts approach to this book reminds me of a spinning newspaper headline from a B&W crime movie or a radio announcer who interrupts the broadcast with news of a brutal crime. Because of it's retro-reporting the vibe is pure noir with all the trappings, desperation and pathos of a sex-slay at Lovers Lane. 50 hardboiled cases so engaging, they will leave chalk stains from the body outlines on your fingertips. |
