4.0 out of 5 stars Review of Hall's Hellenicity, July 3, 2011
This review is from: Hellenicity: Between Ethnicity and Culture (Paperback)
Certainly, this work is well-placed within various contemporary theories of culture and ethnicity. Hall makes headway both within the healm of Greek ethnographic studies, as well as from without out--offering commentary on trends in ethnography as a discipline. Where work succeeds at an academic reading, it fails thereby for the lay reader, who is inevitably lost among the author's many references to various theorists, theories, terms and schools. In short, this work is none too inviting. However, given an earnest read, it has a lot to offer.
