"You don’t have to collect or even love cute itself to enjoy this book ...Hello, Cutie! will introduce you to cute and those of us who love it and, I think, have you understanding, if not agreeing with us. And if you, or someone you love, gets high off low-brow, this is the book to get." —Collectors' Quest

I just loved this book.
It was a wonderful read and I found the people featured (both known and unknown to me) to be very interesting and the etsy links to be most helpful as well :-)
The background on cute culture was very informative.
I highly recommend this book!

Maybe I was expecting too much, but I'm a bit disappointed in this ... Judging by the sample, it appeared to cover a whole range of cute cultures but the book itself is very, very heavily focused on modern Japanese cute - and there is way too much repetitiveness about the Blythe doll. Based on what the author confesses she loves (and which I identified with) I was expecting more of a range and a lot more retro - ie cute jewellery (as in 1950s-1960s animal brooches), animal ornaments, cute bric a brac - that kind of thing. About a third of the book references and/or promotes makers of hand made cute items, links to their website or sites where you can buy their stuff - which I found a bit boring - and she could have done with editing out a lot of the stuff about her daughter. I feel I know her daughter's likes and dislikes better than the author's - and I personally am not interested in a child's opinions on such a niche topic. It could have done with a good sharp edit and a lot more photos. It's a bit expensive, but since I haven't found anything else like this out there at least it fills a much-needed genre gap in the market.

Most enjoyable, I hope to see more on similar topics from the same author :) quite liked the Etsy links/references. Only small thing, and it's a VERY small thing, is it might have benefited in e-book form from a bit closer proofing, but even for some of us uptight types, it didn't detract from the enjoyment :) an excellent reference, very thought provoking and entertaining :)
