Editorial Reviews

About the Artist

Page France is the slightly off-kilter, brainchild of Baltimore, Maryland's Michael Nau. At the age of twenty-one his songwriting has received praise from reviewers across the globe.

Page France began in the Spring of 2004 as Nau, and good friend Clinton Jones put together a collection of songs, which were, perhaps, intended to be placed on an old, dusty shelf for years to come, until Baltimore based label, Fall Records, kindly offered to release the songs as the band's debut album, Come, I'm a lion! Shortly thereafter, Page France began performing live, and recording numerous demos, and have since created a following that continues to grow daily.

Nau, who rarely appears solo, loves to share the stage and studio with a lengthy cast of friends and instrumentalists. The sweet and loveable voice of Whitney McGraw, and the guitar and percussion styling of good friend and collaborator, Clinton Jones, have become the base of the Page France sound. Full of spirited fun and joy, the live show plays more like a wedding celebration than a familiar rock show, as the stage fills with jubilance, while voices soar, bells ring, and each member dances from one instrument to another.

Only one year after their first release, Mr. Nau, and his cast of friends and collaborators, have put together something even sweeter, more clever, more surprising, and maybe even a bit stranger. Hello, Dear Wind is new and exciting, while still paying homage to its predecessor. The campfire sing-a-longs, and the craftily, sporadic instrumentation is still there… just living in a brand new neighborhood.

Product Description

This collaborative seamlessly conjure and resurrect the timeless talent of folkloric storytelling, offering a spirited mix of musical campfire sing-a-longs, lovelock tales, and whimsical pop classics, all with a delicate dash of youthful exuberance. Whether this re-issue serves as an introduction or a re-introduction to the band, Page France's "Hello, Dear Wind" proves to be an appealing, innovative pop music masterwork.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, October 18, 2006
Page France is one of those rare indie bands that make really incredible music as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Hello, Dear Wind is a joy to listen to over and over again. The magic of the music come from their ability to mix sappy folk riffs with superimaginative lyrics sung by a man who has an odd hint of innocence in his voice.

Every song has had to work its way into my head on its own, so I can say that I've only been able to fully soak in the first half of the album, but that is what makes a good record in my opinion.

Do yourself a favor and listen to the snippets of songs that amazon lets you hear. If you get hooked just from that, I can honestly say that you will fall in love with the rest. Getting this album is one of the best ways to treat yourself this year. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sailing on a Summer Day, December 7, 2006
By Eddie Watkins (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
Let's all pull for this band to get enough support to keep on playing.

They are earnest without being heavy

childlike without being silly

ambiguous without being vague

and fun without being flippant.

Clap! Hands! Clap! Hands!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good, April 23, 2006
This review is from: Hello, Dear Wind (Audio CD)
This is a very good, chill album, good for sitting around on a sunny Sunday afternoon sipping some vino and just kicking back.
