5.0 out of 5 stars Hello, Good-bye, I Love You, May 31, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hello, Goodbye, I Love You (Paperback)
HELLO, GOOD-BYE, I LOVE YOU is an inspirational tail that
will have you "sitting up and begging for more."

Diego, the Mexican boy, is thrilled to find his school is running a new program in which you adopt a dog for a temporary amount of time and train it for Guide Dogs for the Blind. He and his friend Jeremy join enthustiastically and embark on a joyous adventure training their dogs.

Then the day comes Diego has been dreading - the day he must give up his precious Aloha, the dog he's learned to love and care for. He's not sure how he's going to handle this, until he realizes someone else needs Aloha much more then he.

HELLO, GOOD-BYE, I LOVE YOU is a book that cannot be put down or forgotten. It tugs at your heart and will have you laughing and crying at the same time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aloha's Love Journey, March 28, 2003
By

This review is from: Hello, Goodbye, I Love You (Paperback)
Hello Goodbye I love You, is a great book that interweaves the life of Diego Escobar and his family as they raise Aloha the guide puppy and the life of Kimberly Louise as she goes through some tragic events. It teaches that there are many challenges in life, but we can try hard and find ways to overcome them. I loved how the two stories were interchanged chapter by chapter, and Pam used great imagery! It felt like I was in the book, part of the story and knew Diego and his family!I could picture all the scenes because of the wonderful word choice she used and the story is so realistic to how life would be with a guide dog.The way that Pam pieced together the story couldnt have been better. She did an overall magnificent job with the book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Not only is it interesting to read, but is full of facts as well. We share the characters emotions, yet at the same time, learn the realities of raising a guide dog puppy. This book will interest both children and adults but is also a wonderful way to become informed about guide dogs, their trainers and recipients. I know this book will do more than just entertain, it will challenge and encourage people to act and get involved in such a wonderful project.

5.0 out of 5 stars So you want to raise a guide dog?, November 29, 2003
By
Ginny Randle (Birmingham, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hello, Goodbye, I Love You (Paperback)
This short and very readable children's book will appeal to adults as well and should be required reading for anyone contemplating raising a guide dog puppy. It is heartfelt and informative, all at the same time. The tendency towards excessive sweetness is offset by the blunt facts that this is a tough task and not to be undertaken lightly. It certainly opens your eyes to what is involved but succeeds in not discouraging you from taking on the challenge. The research behind the story makes it accurate so the reader gets the true picture. Armed with this kind of knowledge and the genuine emotion which comes through little Diego, the reader is more likely to want to proceed and many may contact the Guide Dogs associations around the world because of this simple little book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The heartbreak of letting go, September 21, 2003
This review is from: Hello, Goodbye, I Love You (Paperback)
Based on a true story, Hello, Goodbye, I Love You: The Story Of Aloha - A Guide Dog For The Blind by Pamela Bauer Mueller is the story of a twelve-year-old young man named Diego Escobar and Aloha -- the dog he raised from puppyhood. At eighteen months, it was time for Diego to send his beloved canine companion off to guide dog school for formal training and a productive future as a guide dog for the blind. The heartbreak of letting go, and the joys of little miracles fill the pages of this compassionate true story which is especially recommended reading for dog lovers.

A well written, moving story of a seeing eye dog and the

5.0 out of 5 stars emotion, emotion, emotion, April 3, 2003

This review is from: Hello, Goodbye, I Love You (Paperback)
Just as an example of how emotionally stirring this book is, when I started reading the prologue to my husband over breakfast one morning, he couldn't keep his eyes dry. My son's school is in the process of reading this wonderful heartfelt story in preparation for the culmination of their writing course. This is not just a children's book..it will touch any age even those too young to read. A pure family event. Don't let this one pass by.
