After going through at least 4 CD player/boom boxes for my daughter (including 2 of the Fisher Price "Tough" ones, the Mickey Mouse one, and the Barbie Karaoke one), we bought this one. None of the others lasted even 6 months, and they were all picky about certain CD's. We've had this one for about 2 years and never had a problem. It has been used every single day--usually multiple times. It reads all of my daughter's CDs (which tend to get scratched and dirty), and she has been able to operate it since she got it at 2 years old. Now my 21-month-old has figured it out as well, and we plan to buy another one for her this year!

This is a great-looking player that has difficulty playing home-made CDs despite the description - and regardless of the program used to make the CDs. The manual is not well written - there is no reference in the trouble-shooting guide to the issue of home-made CDs not playing. There is no reference in the guide to the function of the small switch on the back of the unit called the "Beat Switch" - flipping it from one side to the other made one home-made CD work but it had no effect on the ability of the others to play. These CDs of my daughter's play in all our other CD players - so essentially this unit is a TOY.

This boombox is just as cute as it looks. Everything works really well, and sound is clear and good.
It is definitely not a high tech boombox, which I expected when I chose it. It simply is a basic boombox good for a starter music system for your child or an extra little sound system for the basics.
The dials are in strange places and takes a minute to figure out what is where, but everythings works perfectly and is cute as can be.
In short... just what I wanted and expected.

My daughter really loved getting this item for Christmas. Unfortunately, the CD player is not reliable. It freezes (sometimes for several hours), unfreezes unexpectedly (especially great in the middle of the night), skips repeatedly, or just plain refuses to start at all. The only thing that works well is the radio. We already have a radio, so the purchase was a big waste of money. Terribly disappointing. I strongly recommend that potential buyers look elsewhere.

I bought this as a gift for my two year olds who ask for music whenever they are going down for naps or bedtime. They have a collection of cassette tapes that they choose from and try to put in the slot. Some day they'll get it... They also are learning how to access the CD part but haven't figured out the pushing the button only once part. It should come with time.

Easy on the eyes (if you like pink) and easy to use this boom capsule fits nicely on top of our kids dresser and has adequate volume range and fidelity for bedtime music.

Cassette buttons take more force than can be generated by a two year old and until they can read, we have to run it. A good enhancement would be to use contrasting colors for the start and stop buttons for non-reading kids.

However, I realize that this was probably not intended for operation by toddlers... although it could be.

My niece wanted a boom box for Christmas 2007. I looked in the stores locally for "Hello Kitty" but couldn't find one. I came home after a night of running all over town; logged on to Amazon.com and typed in Miss Kitty boom box. I purchased on line in less than 10 minutes. It was well worth the shipping charges. She loves it. It's easy for her to play. She was an expert at it before Christmas Day ended. It's very well put together, looks sharp, not cheap looking at all. Well worth the money.
It came before the arrival date. My niece takes it everywhere. When she comes to spend the night with her aunt, we put a tape in and dance, laugh and have a great time. Thank you Amazon.com. I have purchased many products from Amazon.com; books, CD's, Christmas gifts, ect. and have never been disappointed.

as a teenager that listens to tons of loud music i can say it's a truly great radio. as previous people have stated that their radio has problems reading homemade cds i'd like to say that it reads my homemade cds just fine and i make them alot aswell. though it could play a little louder i'm very pleased with it.

My daughter got this for Christmas and it stopped working three weeks later! For the price, I expected it to work more than 3 weeks. Plus I have a very disappointed 6 year old who doesn't have a CD player anymore.

This was purchased for my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. She learned to use it very easily and loves it. She has is constantly playing it. She sings and dances to her CD music. When I first considered it for her, I questionned getting it but I now know it was a perfect gift for her.

This Hello Kitty boom box was a wonderful find! It's perfect for a young girl but I would think it would be great for any fan of Hello Kitty! (There are lots of us out there!) It is lightweight and compact and it looks great when sitting on a shelf. It has great sound, is easy to use, and seems quite sturdy even for its smaller size. I looked all over town for a "pink" boombox for my daughter but couldn't find anything anywhere. In 5 minutes on Amazon, I found this, ordered it, and within a few days, it arrived on my doorstep! My daughter absolutely loves it and she will for years to come! I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a cute boom box for a girl...but if you have boys, forget it!
