Camping season for children and families alike is just around the corner; and every year at this time I think of this very funny song by Allan Sherman. Sherman (November 30, 1924 - November 20, 1973) became extremely famous as a song parodist in the early 1960s. His first album, "My Son, the Folk Singer" (1962), became the fastest-selling record album up to that time. "Hello Muddah Hello Faddah" (from Sherman's album "My Son the Nut") is probably one of Sherman's best known songs simply because it is hysterically funny and can be enjoyed year after year without the lyrics ever becoming dated. Who can't laugh at a kid's amusing little strategy to get his parents to take him back home--after all, he's been there "one whole day!" Indeed, the song "Hello Muddah Hello Faddah" was so successful that it hit "No.2 on the national Billboard Hot 100 chart for three weeks in late summer 1963. The lyrics were sung to the tune of one segment of Ponchielli's "Dance of the Hours."

Allan enjoys a good rapport with his audience (as he always did) and just about everyone will enjoy this novelty song. Highly recommended!

I got this song just so I could here the words...it got stuck in my head. My little girl will play this song over and over, which gets it stuck in my head all over again. Anything that can keep my girls engaged is a plus.
