I saw Scott on CNN Live in April and ordered one of his books from his website shortly thereafter. After finishing this book about a month ago, I definately sat down and thought about it for a good while. HELLO, my name is Scott is basically a story about a guy who wears a nametag to make people friendlier. Not much to it, just some stories and reactions, but still a pretty interesting message. He keeps talking about a nametag as a "front porch" because it makes people friendlier--and how a nametag is only one a many examples. Interesting concept. Especially since I really hate nametags and would never want to wear them! But it doesn't seem like Scott wants everyone to wear nametags--he just wants everyone to find their own way. I know I use my dog a lot to make people friendlier...so my retriever is kind of like my own nametag. I would suggest this book to anyone who thinks this world needs to be friendlier.

This is a great book to just get you thinking about the everyday interactions that you have with people on the street in a different way. Although the book is a little wordy in some parts, overall it's an excellent and dynamic book. This guy is one of those free thinkers that stumbled upon something that can really make a difference in your local community! I completely recommend the book for anyone who cares (or wants to try it out) about more than just themselves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Approachable, January 6, 2004
This review is from: Hello, My Name is Scott (Paperback)
I have first hand experience in the nametag area. I met Scott because I was working at the Rec Center and when he came in to ride a bike HE was the one wearing the nametag. It was easy for me to remember his name and I found that we chatted very easily, and I attribute that to Scott's nametag theory. IT WORKS! And he is just as good a writer as he is someone to talk to. Good work Scott.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Fun Read, March 10, 2010

This review is from: Hello, My Name is Scott (Paperback)
This was a very well written little book. What a fun concept and, from what he reports, the wearing of a nametag really does promote a "Friendlier Society". I will be interested to read his other books relating the wearing of a nametag to the work place. We could certainly use a friendlier society.

5.0 out of 5 stars Way to go,Scott, September 23, 2003

I am a student at Miami University, where Scott first started wearing his nametag, and I saw Scott speak last year. He is an excellent speaker and this book is a must-have! My mom and I have both read this book, and we love it. It is fun to read and makes you think about stuff at the same time. :) Way to go, Scott.
