Editorial Reviews

In a career spanning two decades, Dave Koz has established himself as a platinum-selling artist, humanitarian, entrepreneur, radio host, and instrumental music advocate. A six-time Grammy nominee, he was honored in 2009 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The list of artists who Koz has played with bears testament to his talent and includes such musical luminaries as Burt Bacharach, Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, Celine Dion, Kenny Loggins, U2, Barry Manilow, Michael McDonald, Luther Vandross, and Rod Stewart. On this, his Concord Records debut, Dave works with such legendary and diverse musicians as Herb Alpert, Jonathan Butler, Brian Culbertson, Sheila E., Dana Glover, Boney James, Jeff Lorber, Marcus Miller, Keb' Mo', Ray Parker Jr., Lee Ritenour, & Christian Scott, to name a few. Hello Tomorrow may be all at once his most musical, as well as his most meaningful project to date, as it is about embracing life, the changes it brings and the promise of a new day ahead.

There are two things I've always loved about Dave Koz. First, you can always hear the emotion in his music. Second, his music is always incredibly fun! This album is both of those things. It is certainly not disappointing! I put this on my ipod and took it to work and I actually had fun at work! I love the Boney James duet too! Boney and Dave are the best and it was great to hear them work together! Thanks, Dave for a great cd!

Dave Koz is always delightful to listen to, but this CD has amazingly good tracks. There are such wonderful guest artists on this that it's a hard to find a track to not love. That said, I do have favorites: 'Put the Top Down' and 'Think Big' simply rock. They are too much fun to blast. And the piece with the title message 'Start All Over Again' is beautiful. The message will resonate with anyone who pays attention to life, to its ups and downs. This is a wonderful CD: buy it.

I have always been a huge fan of Dave Koz's music for a very long time. One thing I can say about Hello Tomorrow is that to all jazz lovers, you are in for a special treat. Dave Koz is simply amazing. Through every CD that I have heard personally, he always stays consistent and creative with his music. He did an outstanding job selecting the artist to work on his Hello Tomorrow CD. The chemistry of artist blends in very well on this CD. If you ever get a chance to hear Dave Koz live in person I also strongly advise it. He knows how to put on a memorable show as well. I can't wait to hear him in concert for the Dave Koz and friends Smooth Jazz Christmas tour. Overall one of the best jazz CDs that I've heard. This CD is a must buy. A classic indeed.

I have always admired Dave Koz's music. He is an excellent musician as well as a wonderful human being. This album, "Hello Tomorrow", exemplifies his place as one of the best sax players of his generation. I speak from a musician's point of view; Dave Koz is a "musician's musician". "Hello Tomorrow" is concrete proof of that. This is Koz's best album so far. I love the soulfulness of "Remember Where You Came From"; the melodies and sounds flow like butter from his horn on this hip track. "Whisper In Your Ear" is a very sexy and mellow jam (The Koz's whispers are soooo sensual!!!). "This Guy's in Love" is smooth and shows Koz as a multi-talented musician, whose less than confident approach to the Herp Alpert original (Herb does an awesome cameo, by the way!!) song with his cute vocals works well in the song. My favorite cut however, has to be "The Journey", written by Mr. Marcus Miller, an outstanding musician in his own right. This cut is reminiscent of another super sax player--a young man known as David Sanborn, whom Miller has worked with throughout his career. Koz takes this great piece of music and pours his heart and soul into it; this tune moved me to tears. You can tell that Sanborn has influenced his talent. Brian Culbertson, a very talented musician himself, contributed mightily to this album as well; check out two of Culbertson's gems: "Anything's Possible" a terrifically catchy jam, and the AWESOME, "There's a Better Way", which features Keb Mo(!!!). I am enthralled with Dave Koz's talents; as a former U.S. Army musician, I can tell you; he IS the real deal. See for yourself--buy this album. There is something on it for EVERYONE! (By the way, his Current Christmas album rocks as well!!!) GO DAVE!!!! YOU ARE GRAMMY BOUND WITH THIS ONE!!!!!!!

I own most of Dave Koz's collection in music and I have seen him perform at least 4 times over the past decade. He is quite an entertainer and I love his passion for writing and distributing music. He doesn't lay back on getting to the studio like others, he is good for a strong CD usually every 2-3 years and selfishly, I've not been disappoint in one.
Hello Tomorrow will not disappoint either. It's quite dynamic with a well diverse group of musicians. All the tracks play well and I was particularly touched that Marcus Miller helped produce the CD. Now I have only 1 regret....my liner notes do not indicate who the artists are on the tracks. I do note that he indicates the featured artist on the back but who are the musicians creating the music with him and the featured folks? Specifically, who sings the Herb Albert smash, track 5? It says Herb is featured but there is no way Herb sounds that youthful and dynamic at his age....could he? Please, some one let me know? please?

I bought this CD on a whim since it was only $7 for the electronic copy ... best idea ever!!! Have been a Dave Koz fan for a while but this new CD is (imho) his best yet. Whenever I listen it puts me in the best mood because his sound just envelopes you in a fun, uplifting state of mind. Also loved the collaboration with Sheila E. and Jonathan Butler on "Getaway". Well done, Dave!

Koz appeared in concert last night in Wilkes Barre, Pa. and blew us away. I was introduced to his music on a website (smoothjazztampabay.com) and seeing him in person was a must. Smoooth jazz is addictive, and Koz closed that deal with selections from this new album. I'd travel to see him again.

This album has a wonderfully positive vibe. Not just from the musical standpoint but from the messages that infuse the lyrics.

I got goosebumps when I heard : You can Start All Over Again". Dana Glover sounds a wonderful job of interpreating the lyrics. Maybe it is because I have one friend going thru a divorce, one has cancer and I am recovering from surgery. The song seems to apply to all of us. " As long as you are breathing, you can start all over again, if you heart's beating, you can start all over again", it tells us. It has become my theme song every morning as I start out on a new days journey.

In the old days I use to buy an album to just get one song I liked. I sure would have done that with the above song but listening to the rest of the album I discovered Dave has molding it around a theme of everything being possible. The thought that you create your own reality is demonstrated with: "There's Got to Be A Better Way" The ambling guitar line makes me think of a Muddy Waters kind of day, lazily listening to some guitar picking. Add Daves' sax and you've got a tune that demands you turn it up, open the windows , roll down the top and take off for lands unknown...knowing, everything is possible.

"Listen to the Whisper" - made me say "Who said that ? as I heard a faint whispering voice say : "There is much you can not see, every answer is inside, it begins and ends with you." By now I was saying boy this album has got my number !

And as if to know it was time to not be so serious " Think Big" is just total fun. It transported me to the "Treme" feeling of New Orleans. I was dancing and feeling good just like Mardi Gras.
