I Found It!,

I am very surprised I found this, I found it in a store called "Monsters In Motion" Its a store for horror films and stuff and I found some copies of it in the soundtrack section. This is Young's second best score the first is Hellraiser 2 my favorite is track 1.The only question I have is why didn't this score go to the Academy Awards?I mean this score is better than The Amityville Horror and it was nominated(I'm not saying Amityville is a bad score though)this score went unrecognized by the Academy and even the Golden Globes and Grammys. If you just happen to stumble upon a copy buy it.Oh and I also found the soundtrack to Hellraiser Bloodline!!!!,but it wasn't at the same store.

This disc of the first Hellraiser's fantastic Christopher Young score appeared before the 2003 collection Hellraiser: The Chronicles. Both are sadly out of print, but if you're thinking about spending these prices for a used copy on Amazon, track down the Chronicles collection--it's way worth it.
Hellraiser benefited tremendously by Young's score, which intensified the creepy, gothic feel of the film, with it's calm strings and dark, dark rumblings. The entire disc is excellent, not much 'filler' score, but rather a deep score that underlines Barker's whacky themes of love and death and hell and guys with really painful costumes. The Hellraiser theme is gorgeous. Highly recommended to film score buffs in general, not just Hellraiser fans. Don't let the guy with the pins in his head and the flesh hooks deter you, this is a great score by a tremedous talent. Skip this disc and go for the remastered Chronicles, which include Hellbound, and Randy Miller's Hell on Earth scores. They should bring these back in print, period. Are they teasing us?

I am really quite impressed. There is so much depth and emotional intensity in this score it really caught me off guard. Christopher Young has done an incredible job capturing the atmosphere of the story. Incredible. It's almost like he draws right from the bleeding heart of the story, of the characters themselves, and translates their desire, fear, and pain into one of the best scores I've had the pleasure of listening to. Well, well, well worth it.

Great music,

The music of this CD is totally stunning. Track number 1 (opening titles) is one of the most enchanting themes I have ever heard in a movie. Track number 2 is very sweeping and enjoyable. Track three is a more silent and less dramatic version of track 1. Track number 5 is very powerful and gruesome. The less tracks are equally good and enchanting but what really stands out is track 14. A very dramatic, gruesome and enchanting re-incarnation of all the themes of the film. It stars with a bang and as it continues it becomes more sweeping and at the end even sad. Overall, I think that this is one of the best soundtracks in my collection, and I hope that I will get also the even better soundtrack of the sewuel.

Christopher Young hasn't lived up to the hype that this score promised. However, with this score(HELLRAISER), he both meets and exceeds any and all expectations you'd have for a horror film score. Track 3 is my personal favorite! For any collector of film scores, this one should be in your library!
