5.0 out of 5 stars Adnre and crew stun all
andre nickatina is truly one of the most hidden talents in the music industry. with this record he displays his talents. this is one of the best records ever made. his top tracks include "ayo" , "hell's kitchen" , & "bid'ness brains. my advise to first time listeners and lifetime collectors is to buy this cd now. fifteen bucks is a steal for his work. thats it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Puttin it down for the bay
nickatina always comes tight with his flows and this cd is no different. The first song of this album is the standout and "business brains" is the second best with cougnut. This cd lacks major depth to be a classic compilation though.

This rapper has a unique stlye that no other artist can match right now. Andres new CD, Hells Kitchen proves it. He has somewhere of 12-13 guest vocalists on this cd which provide an exemplary variety of sound and styles. I reccomend this cd to anyone who knows quality rap

This cd is different then nickatina's usual style, i like the change he does with this cd, it's changed a little but the old nickatina is still there.

"Ayo", "Bid'niss Brains", "All star chuck taylors" and "Hell's Kitchen" are off tha chain on this classic.

4.0 out of 5 stars An exceptional Bay Area compilation, February 20, 2009
This review is from: Hell's Kitchen (Audio CD)
Compilation albums usually suck. Let's face it, the majority of the time they come off as cash grabs: minor works from the featured artist, and a bunch of mediocre tracks from his homies. At least that's been my experience, and as such I stay away from them.
That said, I was hesitant to buy this compilation, but my love of Andre Nickatina forced me at gun point, 3 for 10 style. And I'm definately pleased.
The cast is outstanding, the beats and subjects are dark, and sometimes border on experimental. The Hell's Kitchen crew uses the compilation format not as a stewing showcase, but as an experiment in team building.
Andre comes with heat on classics "Ayo" (with San Quinn) and "Cadillac Girl" with the late great Mac Dre. But there's also great weirdness here: the strange, rambling and disturbing "All Star Chuck Taylors", the addictive romp with Lolo Swift "State 2 State", and the menacing 1-2 punch of "Hell's Kitchen" with Saafir the Saucy Nomad.
Few compilations warrant 5 stars, especially ones that aren't merely collections of repacked "out-of-date classics", but Hell's Kitchen comes close. Definately worth a look.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Million Dollar Dream masterpiece, January 10, 2006
This review is from: Hell's Kitchen (Audio CD)
Andre Nickatina has been releasing classic albums on his label Million Dollar Dream for quite a while now. This is the label's first compillation, and it lives up to the incredibly high standarts set by King Nicky's solo albums. As usual, this album is different than any other rap album, especially compilations. The production is just flawless, and the majority of it is handled by Nick Peace, who ones again proves he's one of the greatest and most original producers in the rap game. The music on this album is just different than anything on the market today. And that's the brilliance of Million Dollar Dream Records! Other than that, Some of the Bay Area's finest rappers are featured on the album: Mac Dre (R.I.P.), Cougnit (R.I.P.), Baldhead Rick, San Quinn, Mike Mashall, Saafir, Mr. Kee, Equipto and a few others. And unlike many compillations, each rapper brings his A-game. I couldn't finish this review without saying a thing about Andre Nickatina. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The man is a genius, a mastermind, and one of the greatest rappers EVER! He's smart, original, unique. He's got one of the best voices and deliveries you'll ever get to hear. He's not afraid to go to directions noone ever goes to - both musically AND lyrically. King Nicky is on about half of the songs on the album, and of course, the songs he's on are the best ones on the album. Some will just blow your mind, in their dopeness, originallity, deepness. For example, one of the best songs on the album, "4Th of July" is like part 2. of the song "Fears of a Coke Lord", but this time, it's told from the point of view of the Coke Lord himself, Andre's friend. Anoher thing that's so original and uniques is that all over tha album, you hear snipets from different movies (at the end or beginnings of the songs), who set the mood... Dre Dog is one of the most intelligent and bold rappers in the game, and he's an ARTIST. He's not a gangsta rapper, although some of his raps are hardcore - he's just a cat from the street trying to get his hustle on, trying to live the Million Dollar Dream. The man is a symbol of excellence, and he NEVER dissapoint. Cats like Nicky are a rarity in the rap industry. The man has a vision, and we should be glad we get a chance to hear about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic Yay Area rap album, November 26, 2003
By

This review is from: Hell's Kitchen (Audio CD)
Andre Nickatina is one of the greatest rappers ever. His beats and rhymes are dope, and also original. All of his albums are classics that you will not want to stop listening to. Hell's kitchen is awesome, but if you come across any of his other albums in the store, buy them. Forget all those mainstream wannabe rappers, this is a true gangsta.
