Move Your A** And Buy This Game,

If you love the show Hell's Kitchen, then you will love this game. The only thing that sucks is that they sensor Chef Ramsey. But over all the game is great. You are trying to get a 5-star restaurant. You start with one table and a few ingredients and a few pots in the kitchen. As you improve you get more tables, ingredients and an oven. You need to keep Chef happy or your done. The cool thing is after each day you get a percentage score. If you don't get 100% that's ok you can still move on or you can go back and try harder. I think this game is a must have for Hell's kitchen/Kitchen Nightmares lovers.

Turn down the sound,

Hell's Kitchen is a lot of fun probably more for adults (I'm 60!) The sound drives me nuts though so I turn it down. With the sound up I make more mistakes, probably just like his real chefs do. The only negative is that it is a bit difficult to see some of the little "clues". I bought another for a 35 year old!

Great Game That's Too Short,

This game is based on Gordon Ramsey's TV show Hell's Kitchen, and plays like Diner Dash or Cake Mania, plus getting screamed at by Ramsey. The gameplay is a lot of fun, as you start by juggling the needs of the front of the house (dining room) with the back of the house (kitchen). You have to seat customers, take their orders, cook their food without burning it, and clear their tables in a timely fashion. Ramsey oversees you, yelling what you need to do. The game also includes recipes by Ramsey himself, from appetizers to entrees to desserts. Some seem interesting and simple enough for amateurs like myself to throw together. The game is great fun while it lasts, but as suggested by other reviewers, it doesn't last very long. I finished it in a few days, and there is little replay value once you complete it.

"Hell's Kitchen" for Nintendo DS takes on the popular reality series where aspiring chefs compete while being yelled at by Chef Gordon Ramsay to become the new head chef at some fancy restaurant. Unlike the television show where chefs work in teams that are usually confined to the kitchen, the player in this game controls everything from food preparation, seating of customers, taking orders, and clearing off the tables. It is not as difficult as it sounds as prompting those acts only takes the touch of the stylus, but there are a lot of things of which to keep track so concentration is key.In career mode, the player strives to be a 5-star chef. To achieve this rank, seven services must be successfully completed for 5 rounds (35 services total). It is basically a timing game. There are a set of ingredients to prepare and a number of pots (and later an oven) in which to cook them. Each pot and oven indicates how long the ingredients need to cook and the player's job is to get the ingredients starting at the proper times so all the food is done cooking simultaneously and off the cooking surface ready to be served. While the food is cooking, the player needs to check the dining hall for new patrons, customers ready to order, and others ready to leave. The most difficult time is the beginning of the service when customers need to be seated and the chef starts getting deluged with order tickets. Once all the tables are filled, things settle down a bit and the ordering, cooking, and table clearing can be staggered. At first, the game is very easy and forgiving. Even with mistakes, a player can get a high score--even 100%. As the game goes on, however, there is less room for error and food needs to be timed and off the stove and out of the oven precisely to get a 5-star dish rating from Chef Ramsay. Also, more ingredients and cooking surfaces are added as well as tables and customers. The key is to have all the ingredient bowls filled at all times. The scoring seems to be vague. After what was thought to be a near perfect service on some of the easier rounds, this reviewer received only a 65%-66% score at the end. Re-playing the services produced similar scores. Other, more difficult services (especially the final round) completed with several timing errors received scores in the 90 percentile and even 100%. Fortunately, one does not have to be perfect to continue on in the career mode as even scores in the 60's will move one along, but it is still frustrating to keep getting the same scores no matter what. Perhaps it is a glitch, but it definitely takes away the challenge of trying to improve scores on certain rounds. If the cook is not quick enough, an irate Chef Ramsay will throw him or her out of the kitchen. The graphics are excellent in the top screen with the stern, realistic-looking face of Chef Ramsay observing the gameplay. He will yell or give praise when appropriate (don't worry, he's censored). The graphics on the bottom screen with the little tables and waiter are just mediocre. The customers are nondescript and duplicated. The music in between the services sounds like something played on Hell's Kitchen but is very repetitive. As another reviewer noted, some might find it better to turn the volume down during game play as the constant whirling sound of food being prepared can be distracting. Aside from the added ingredients, oven, and customers, the game play is very repetitive and, after completing the 5-star level, there is not much else to do. An arcade mode is included which is just a line of tickets (no dining room responsibilities) that the player completes until the ticket board gets filled and Chef Ramsay closes Hell's Kitchen's doors in a fury, but that seems more like being at work rather than playing a game. Ramsay recipes are found on this game along with photos of the dishes for real life cooking. The game is easy to navigate with three empty slots that can be deleted or changed with the touch of the stylus and players can re-visit services to try and get a better score but, as mentioned above, that may not be possible even with a perfect service. In sum, this is a fun game for a while but, once it is completed, it probably won't be referred to again unless someone likes to cook up the recipes. As other cooking games are available, "Hell's Kitchen" will probably just appeal to fans of the show.

If you are a fan of the TV show, then this game is for you. It is entertaining-yet does not scream FUN like a typical arcade game does. It can be challenging to keep the fast pace, but is addictive in its power to try your skill. There are more challenging games out there, more educational games, but of the 10 DS games I own, this is in the top 3.

This game is similiar to "Diner Dash", however you are now a chef in Hell Kitchen Restaurant. You have to do 3 jobs at the time. If the customers wait so long, they will get angry, you will lose your percentage score. If you don't get 100%, you can still move on or you can go back and try harder. I like "Diner Dash", I like "Hell's Kitchen" even more.
