5.0 out of 5 stars Uncensored December 28, 2012
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
For some reason Amazon never updated the cover art. I uploaded the actual cover art above. As you can see all episodes are uncensored just like in previous seasons. Another great season. I can't wait till Season 9.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining as always! October 18, 2010

I thought this was going to be one of the worst seasons, because their pick of chefs this year was seemingly desperate. I don't know how they search for and select the cast, but it appeared to have been at some sort of shelter. But it has been very entertaining and the chefs are doing better than I had anticipated.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worst HK season August 5, 2014
By Adamed
This is not the best Hell's Kitchen season at all. It's still entertaining but I can see some fakeness in a few of these contestants.

First of all Raj, the most insane, funny chef in the history of HK may or may have not been a hired actor to make the show more entertaining, I'm not too sure..., however Sabrina and trev really come across as fake/unreal/acting to me. An example is When the blue team won an award for winning the challenge, instead of relaxing and enjoying it trev RANDOMLY starts complaining, also he swears much more than anybody else I've heard on the show. And Sabrina just screams. She's trying to be the 'enemy' that the other team members don't like and it just doesn't work. I'm convinced these 2-3 of these chefs are actors, but I could be wrong. Few people saying this show is fair just have watched this season first and judged it off that, because this show isn't fake but some chefs on this one most likely are in my opinion.

This is not to say that I'm not a true hells kitchen fan, cause I am, and I watched season 11 and I was very pleased with that as I expected it to be more or less the same as this, glad they pulled it back. Not to mention the fact that john phillipe returns!

I've rated season 8 this low because I just couldn't get into it. The contestants are easily unlikeable with the exception of around 4-5 who were funny.
If I were you I'd buy seasons 1-7 first, and then season 11. I haven't actually seen 9, 10 & 12 yet but I sure hope they're worth watching. Season 11 was surprisingly brilliant.

Hope this review helped

5.0 out of 5 stars Still Great After All These Years September 16, 2011
Verified Purchase
OK, lets start with the fact that this guy has made a cooking competition a top ten show for 9 seasons. Think that maybe he is doing something right? I realized after Season 4 or 5 that the only thing you can count on is that the best 2 chefs would almost always end up in the final (I have some differences of opinion as to some winners) but the rest of the chefs were interchangeable or irrelevant for the most part because with no ratings you got no show. While I despise some of the chefs (like almost every human) they make the drama factor soar and we will ALL be glad to see certain ones go but they will keep people watching to see how long he can put up with them. I would have told you you were an idiot if you had told me I would watch a COOKING show for 9 years back in Season 1 but her I am never missed an episode so how about we give Gordon Ramsey some recognition that maybe he knows best after all.

5.0 out of 5 stars You watch this not because it is good cooking show April 28, 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Gordon Ramsay is famous for his ravings and rantings. And as always Hell's Kitchen delivers that. When you want to earn to big bucks job in one of his restaurants you have to endure a lot.
Yes it is much of the same as always. Ramsay screams his longs out to the contestants. The shots from the next episode mostly promises more than it delivers. But who cares. You watch this not because it is good cooking show, but for Ramsay''s outburst and the backstabbing behind the scenes.
And contestants like Ray and Sabrina are worth the watch.

3.0 out of 5 stars A lot of progress undone in this round January 19, 2014
When I watched season 7, I noticed that the teamwork and the shining moments of the better chef's appeared to be weakening, and having heard of this season's reputation I wasn't looking forward to it. It did turn out better then expected as I still enjoy the show, but I feel the progress the show made since, the very negative, season 2 was mostly undone.

The chef's this season show more incompitent moments then shining ones and most of the better preforming chef's still get into many arguments and the teamwork side was vertually non existent. Also unlike the past four seasons I didn't have firm faith in the top few chef's. They were the better preforming chef's but, mainly because others did worse then them. Had they been on any other season, I would have clearer and better opinions of them but they probubly would've been eliminated a lot earlier. Now the drama aspect of the show is still fun and unlike season 2 this season wasn't negative at all but that is what saves the season, seeing Ramsay yell at people.

So ultimatly I'm conflicted, on the one hand this is the worst cast in Hell's Kitchen history along with the one of the worser winners, and yet the fact that the season wasn't negative, is funny and the right person won this time makes it somewhat preferable in comparision to season 2 (where the only good thing is the winner).

Do I recommend this to fellow fans? Yes, just expect a different season then the past few have been. Let's hope for some slight redemption next time.
