This album is wonderful. At the time I'm writing this, Amazon doesn't have any sound clips up -- I would really recommend them. The music is a sort of dark rock type, with many instrumental lengths. Actually, most of the thing is void of singing, although vocals are used for effect in a manner most delightful to one's ears.

Being a hard-core geek means I've listened to quite a few soundtracks, anime and otherwise. And the two Hellsing soundtracks are some of the best I've ever listened too. The reason is that it's just *good* music. Also, you can just enjoy listening to it without thinking...oh yeah...that's when, such and such happened... Well of course you can do that too (it wouldn't be a soundtrack otherwise). But you can enjoy it as good quality music in addition to reliving favorite moments from the series.

Ok, many of the anime soundtracks could best be described as *cough* not good. You might get them anyways due to positive associated memories of the series. However, both Hellsing soundtracks can really stand on their own. Any fan of the franchise should at least check them out. And they're actually scary sounding, so they're great if you need some non-corny Halloween music.

Five stars doesn't really describe how cool this album really is! I rank it up with the Cowboy Bebop sound tracks which are probably the best followed by Hellsing then Fooly Cooly (FLCL). The music is it's own thing it's not really gothic rock it is it's own genre of Hellsing. The vocals aren't a primary focus in this music it's all about the sounds i.e. in the track Hidden Leaves Harmony you hear in the background Godzilla roaring. It's just the funky coolness of this cd. The tracks that I think every one should check out are:

Track 04: Hatred Guy of Sinfulness

Track 05: Soul Rescuer

Track 08: Soul Police Chapter's Reverse Circumstance

Track 11: The Japanese Alphabet Road

with Chinese Bellflower's Sweet Smell

Track 14: Origin Reflection RHYTHM NATION

Track 16: The World Without Logos~Dedicated to Malcolm X

Track 17: Gypsy of Atonement

Track 20: Hemp Smoke Stings the Eyes

Track 21: Aha, Springtime of Life's Erotic Hell

Track 22: Unexpected Incident

And don't be disuaded by the titles of the song cause what's in a name? Also this is an important little thing on the inside of the little lyric book where it list all the tracks, "Please acknowledge that due to the intentions of artist, there are unexpected sudden noises or sounds in the recording." Just a little heads up on that but absolutly buy this CD it's really worth it if you like odd music.

P.S. This is not actually E. Henry just one of E.Henry's children.

This is a great CD.

Hellsing, the anime, is good insomuch as Alucard is one of the coolest characters ever. I'm not a hardcore anime freak, and I'm not "into vampires," but Alucard is just... cool! There is no valid argument. However. I'm not reviewing the anime.

This is the second volume of the two volume Hellsing soundtrack, the other CD being Hellsing: Raid. You will not regret it if you buy both!

Hellsing's music is great. Moody, powerful, and, surprisingly *good*. Yeah, it has its weird moments; it's written for a fairly weird program. But the weird parts aren't out of place because they are so smartly intertwined with the mood of the CD. The composer is obviously skilled at his art and has a fantastic knowledge of music and instruments. The songs are expertly composed and say exactly what they mean to say. Good songs are easy to come by. Good CDs aren't. This is a good CD. I'm particularly smitten with the two Hellsing soundtracks because they contain elements of just about every variety of music that's out there. Classic rock, pop, jazz, folk, romantic, classical... just. Everything. If you like a variety of music and are looking for something to express/enhance a powerful/eerie mood, the Hellsing soundtracks are a big win, knowledge or appreciation for the anime not necessary.
