1.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE! BAD IN EVERY WAY BUT THE 'GOOD' BAD! February 13, 2010
Format:DVD
The good reviews are obviously from the filmakers themselves. I know this because this movie is simply too awful for ANYONE to love it. This is basically a gay bondage movie masquerading as a horror movie. If that's your cup of tea then go for it but it's not what I was looking for (or the way it was advertised). I love bad horror movies but I can't stand movies that TRY so hard to be bad AND funny that they fail at both and end up simply being STUPID. 'Hellweek' is just a waste of everyone's time, especially the viewer! The hot girls (who were decent actresses) are wasted (not in THAT way) because it's mostly about 'guys in peril'! Most of the victims are guys who all get tied up and tortured. The 'villains' constantly spout the most awful 'wannabe cool' lines I've heard in quite awhile, which equates to torture of the viewer! There's hardly ANY gore with almost every kill scene being a cutaway cop-out, unimaginative chase scenes end with victims running into a dead end, and the video image itself is so incredibly dark it's impossible to tell what's going on anyway. You deserve better than this. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs! It's too late for me but at least I can warn others!

This movie was fairly bad example of a bad horror movie. I found myself skipping over large sections to reach the good parts..... and not finding any. The fairly professional cover on the box was probably the best part of this movie, since it had no dialog.

2.0 out of 5 stars "TWO WORDS: FLASHLIGHT" November 5, 2012
Format:Amazon Instant Video
The opening scene has an exotic dancer tied up with clown make-up on being tortured to death. This is pretty good stuff as it combines multiple elements that make for a fun filled slasher film. However, they never brought it home.

The film jumps to "one year later" then "3 days earlier" because font is cheap. The film takes place in Cleveland, but not the Cleveland we know, but that one that has a constant full moon at Halloween and randomly goes from day to night. JJ (Rob Jaeger) is the frat president and decides to go against everyone's judgement and initiate 2 pledges in the abandoned factory warehouse of urban legend. The first part of the film features his gang of guys and some young girls as we need to get to know these people before we tie them up and put clown make-up on them. This part of the film was exceedingly long and paid little attention to the killers, who barely get an honorable mention. They could have cut out the whole gypsy fortune teller stuff. That's for werewolf films, not slashers.

By the time the film gets to the fun stuff, I was ready for this thing to end. The family of killers was supposed to make the film, but for some reason it fell flat even when they incorporated clown make-up, masks, banjo music, pliers, knives, and a healthy amount of chain saws. It seemed they were attempting to get a Texas Chainsaw family Sid Haig style, but failed. Unless you're a fan of Karen Fox's tubby bare midriff, you might want to watch something else.

Parental Guide: F-bombs, no nudity. Implied sex scenes with ample sex talk.

1.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTE TROSH! April 25, 2011
Format:DVD
This film is GOBBAGE! The acting sucks, there are so many holes in the story, 45 minutes into the movie and I didn't know a single thing about the characters, the people look like trolls. I asked for a movie, not an abortion. The MOST pissed!

1.0 out of 5 stars It's craptacular! March 3, 2011
Format:DVD
Every movie has a right to be bad, but this one abuses the privilege.

"Hellweek" follows what seems to be the formula for half of the direct-to-video no-budget jobs on the market: a stock horror plot (this one vaguely knocking off "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" at points), bad acting, woefully incompetent film-making, a ridiculous overuse of the F-bomb in the dialog, and cheesy gore and make-up effects. Add to that a powerful streak of misogyny, a thoroughly repugnant main character, and a needlessly long frat party sequence that kills the pacing while contributing nothing to the story or characters, and you have a product that doesn't even amount to a so-bad-it's-good viewing option.

Somehow the filmmakers managed to scrape up enough money for a very brief -- and pointless, and bad -- CGI effect. They should have spent the money on a script editor.
