Clear and enlightening,
By
This review is from: Help for Hair Pullers: Understanding and Coping with Trichotillomania (Paperback)
I have read some of the available material on the subject before only to find out vague and speculative information. I find this book to be clear, documented, straight, ordered and easy to read, really very helpfull. For the first time someone deals with the subject straight and from different points of view giving us clear answers and practical solutions. I highly recommend it to anyone who either suffers from trich or has someone loved who does as well as for therapists or any other proffesional interested in the subject.

A Very Helpful Book - Highly Recommended,
By A Customer
This review is from: Help for Hair Pullers: Understanding and Coping with Trichotillomania (Paperback)
I would recommend this book to anyone who pulls out their hair, or anyone who is close to someone who does. This is not a huge book, but it is packed full of helpful information. It is written in a clear, informative, and easy-to-read manner. The authors obviously have extensive experience and really know what they are talking about. The examples are very realistic as well. A few of the chapters include one just about medication, one just for friends and family, and several with specific cognitive and behavioral exercises you can start to do right away. Most of the chapters get you involved with exercises, some of which you will do every day, so get a notebook ready! The book is not overwhelming but will show you how to start out slowly by keeping track of your daily hair pulling, and progressing to more advanced exercises that will help you gain control of your pulling. Although I am just starting out working with this book, I can see it has great potential to really help me and I highly recommend it.

A Lifesaver!!!,

This review is from: Help for Hair Pullers: Understanding and Coping with Trichotillomania (Paperback)
My daughter had been pulling out her hair for five months before I found this book. It is primarily written for adolescents and adults with trich, but many of the information can apply to children. There is one chapter on younger children with trich. It had a tip in there that I tried which has, in three weeks, improved my daughter's pulling to where it is almost nonexistent!

This review is from: Help for Hair Pullers: Understanding and Coping with Trichotillomania (Paperback)
The authors have done an excellent job of presenting known data on Trichotillomania in children as well as adults. The analysis is very helpful to parents trying to cope with this compulsive disorder in their children (and grandchildren)without adding to the child's embarassment or distress. Highly recommended, not as a cure-all, but as a plainly written handbook presenting the problem with a few case studies to enhance understanding and action that can and should be taken. As in all compulsive behavior, the patient, younger or older, must want to help themselves in order to get control of and overcome this problem.

I have been a puller for almost 20 years, it is a confusing and debilitating disorder. I have prayed and prayed for God to deliver me from this, and just to be normal. I decided to give this book a try, and I just got through the first chapter, and am astounded at the insight to this disorder the author has, It has already given me a level of empowerment over this that I have never had before. This is definately a MUST HAVE for any and all trich sufferers!! I am looking forward to using all the tools available in the book to regain my life, hair and eyelashes!!!!

Book is very helpfull, while you read it it will assist you in identifying when the pulling takes place and the triggers. In the first 3 weeks I am pulling about 90% less just by being aware of it.

This book was very informative for my research paper. It was also helpful in understanding what help my daughter needs with her hairpulling. I thought it covered all areas of interest.

I couldn't even get through this book... not a smooth read at all.... and from what I read there is nothing it can really help you with if you have this Trichotillomania.
