This review is from: Help, Lord! I'm Having a Senior Moment Again: Laughing Through the Realities of Growing Older (Paperback)
I got this for my dad who's been screaming, "I'm having a senior moment for the past 20 years." I used the "Look Inside" feature to see what the content was really going to be like and found myself laughing. I got also got him the original and he said he has thoroughly enjoyed them. Highly recommend if you need a gift for a senior who has a sense of humor.

This review is from: Help, Lord! I'm Having a Senior Moment Again: Laughing Through the Realities of Growing Older (Paperback)
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was written in an unusual way as a collection of prayers to God about a person's senior moments, sort of like reading letters to God or a person's blog. It covers some of the dumb stuff that happens as we get older, primarily forgetfulness but other things as well.
For example, I especially liked the incident mentioned about the electric blanket. The first one an older couple got with the dual control was defective. Only the one side worked so they had to return it. When they got the replacement, the woman couldn't get the heat to go lower than a 7. When they returned that one, the clerk checked it out and there was no problem at all. The woman had the control upside down so mistook the "L" for low as a 7. How dumb is that? It was an entertaining book that made me chuckle and smile. Some of the things reminded me of my dad and some of the forgetfulness even reminded me of myself. It also showed how to give thanks to God even in goofy situations. I finished it in a day, but would recommend it be read a little at a time because it was getting monotanous by the end.
