A small but powerful book,

This book is extremely valuable for anyone who teaches within a Religious Education program but is especially usefull for teacher's of youth Sunday School. "Help! I'm a Sunday School Teacher! : Fifty Ways to Make Sunday School Come Alive" is packed with a lot more than 50 ideas for helping Sunday School. The ideas are not ground-breaking (in fact, most of them will be things that you'll think "I could have come up with that!") but the book will remind you the little things that you should do to make your class better. Ray Johnston encourages creativity within the reader and gives some practical creative suggestions. There are many books that tell people that they should be better teachers. This book tells people HOW to be better teachers. That's why I gave it to all my Sunday School teachers and I think other ministers should do the same.

Lively, engaging text and quirky illustrations combine to make this a quick and helpful read. The title may be a bit misleading, as most of the ideas are geared only to Sunday School teachers of jr. and high school students. Some suggestions seem a little unrealistic, such as taking your class offsite in your vehicle. I can't imagine that happening - even in a small church setting. Overall, though, if you are a youth worker, this book gives dozens of upbeat, positive ways to fire up your ministry.

Quick look into this book and I'm ready to sit and read it from cover to cover. The author has submitted many ideas/short and to the point that can have a positive effect on your teaching as well as keeping your children involved in the days lesson and looking forward to the next Sunday. Done with humor - love it! Highly recommend it to all!
