5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful! Humorous! Touching!, September 5, 2002

Who would have thought having those forgetful, sometimes embarrassing, senior moments could be so much fun--at least when they happen to someone else. I thoroughly enjoyed Karen O'Connor's depiction of the delightful roller coaster ride we take in the process of becoming "blessed with many years." Her humorous and sometimes touching stories provide models of how we can greet our advancing years with a philosophical attitude and a wry smile. Her comments and prayers at the end of each story help us put it all into perspective.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful!, July 23, 2002

Karen O'Connor's new book is a gem. I found myself laughing out loud, nodding and then relaying her quips and common sense with friends and family. I've always enjoyed Ms. O'Connor's other books, but this is the best yet. It's also a book to share. Buy one for yourself and give 'em as presents "just because." That's what I'm going to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Forget There's Laughter, July 1, 2002

When I read Karen O'Connor's humorous devotional on aging,
I thought about Ecclesiastes 12 and its description of the
body shutting down. That chapter can get depressing, but
Karen has the knack of putting a smile on the inevitable
process of growing old. Those of us who've had to retrace
our steps to remember why we went into the next room have
an understanding comrade in Karen, who helps us see ourselves
as God sees us--with compassion and love. If you know somebody
hitting one of those big "O" birthdays, don't give them black
balloons or a package of prunes. Give them this book.

I bought this book for my Mother, she said it was one of the best books she had read and she said she could not stop laughing. So, I had to read the book myself and it is great humor and was fun to read.

Karen has the knack to make every reader smile and feel better about some of those uncertain moments as we age!! I know her personally and not only does she write with a special creative talent, she lives her words. This makes a great gift for birthdays and any other special occassions. It will sure help make my Christmas list easier.

4.0 out of 5 stars Incorrect search, February 16, 2009
By
The book itself is fine, it was a gift for my mother. I read a little of it and it was funny, I can relate to a lot of it now that I'm headed toward my own "senior moments". I was a little disappointed when I got it though. I did a search in Amazon for large print books and this one popped up and sounded great, but when I got it, it wasn't large print at all. Someone needs to fix the metadata associated with this book to remove it from that search. Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best I have read in a long time, September 14, 2008
Bought the book for myself. This is reality and this is life! I laughed so hard while reading this book; got many looks when I was laughing out loud in a doctor's waiting room. Laughing at ourselves is so much better than crying about life. My friend's all wanted to read it---now they will all be purchasing one for themselves. Excellent book!

4.0 out of 5 stars For 88 yr old mother, February 24, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this large print book for 88 yr old mother with some alzheimer's and bad eyesight. This works well as she can relate to the topics and the stories are very short so she doesn't need to remember what she previously read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, funny, easy read, October 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Set up in easy-to-read, put-down-pick-up-again divisions, the book was a blessing for my softly aging Mom as she learned she is not alone in a time spinning quicker than her memory is able to keep up. She is looking forward to sharing it with others.
