I wouldn't even give this book away, after I bought it! If you are looking for counsel for depression, to understand God's comfort through the many times in your life that seem as if you are about to lose your mind, this book is NOT it!! Just opening this book to the beginning wordings was enough for me to put it DOWN. Pretty much it was summed up to imply that if you are depressed, then it's because you don't have enough faith! Please!! It seems to me that I've heard that before...from other supposed religious people that don't believe that depression can be a real biological illness, but just another one of those opinions that if we believed, we would not be depressed! Actually, it's okay to have physical illnesses according to some, but the mental illnesses are seen in a whole another category. In fact, some have run across religious leaders that discourage people from going for mental health care, but just put your trust in prayer and if you REALLY believe, you will be fine. I have news for them...they don't know EVERYTHING! True, some people can get depressed because things are not going right in their life at the moment, such as relationship problems, financial problems, etc., but that is NOT always the case! Then, there are those CLINICAL depressions that don't fit that category, which do need medical assistance, also, besides only prayer to offer some relief. If you buy this book, you may end up feeling a whole lot worse because it is implied that depression comes from your WEAKNESS! Wow, what a comforting thought (NOT!!) for people that could be very near to the end of their rope, just grasping to understand what is happening to them, what voices of comfort are out there to stay on the good fight, to grasp a better handle on how just to continue to do just that, meanwhile, keeping the faith that God DOES understand, even as your prayer for relief has not as yet been answered! I'd never purchased one of her books before, had heard many encouraging things about her writings from other readers, but surely, must not have been about THIS one. After noting her OPINIONS in THIS book, I will certainly not be one donating to her cause by purchasing anything else. She's certainly not going to get richer off of me!
