Book Description

Help Me! October 2002
With God, It's Never Too Late to Improve Your Marriage Dear Reader, Many people enter into a marriage because they're expecting the other person to do something for them, to give them something, to "Make me happy." But we need to look at marriage from the standpoint of giving, not getting. When each partner fully gives him- or herself over to thinking of the other, "What can I do for you?" each will receive everything desired-and more besides. The Bible says, "... It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35 KJV). And about marriage: "Let marriage be held in honor (esteemed worthy, precious, of great price, and especially dear) in all things... " (Hebrews 13:4 AMP). A good marriage does not just happen, no matter how wildly in love you were when you got married. You have to be creative. Learn what the Word says and practice it. There's nothing better than a really great marriage, and nothing worse than a bad one. Discover how to grow blessings and happiness in your marriage. Do this and you'll bring great victories into your home-greater than you could ever imagine. Joyce Meyer.

About the Author

JOYCE MEYER has been teaching the Word of God since 1976 and in full-time ministry since 1980. Previously an associate pastor at Life Christian Church in St. Louis, Missouri, she developed, coordinated, and taught a weekly meeting known as "Life In The Word." After more than five years, the Lord brought it to a conclusion, directing her to establish her own ministry and call it "Life In The Word, Inc."

Now, her Life In The Word radio and television broadcasts are seen and heard by millions across the United States and throughout the world. Joyce's teaching tapes are enjoyed internationally, and she travels extensively conducting Life In The Word conferences.

Joyce and her husband, Dave, the business administrator at Life In The Word, have been married for over 35 years. They reside in St. Louis, Missouri, and are the parents of four children. All four children are married and, along with their spouses, work with Dave and Joyce in the ministry.

Believing the call on her life is to establish believers in God's Word, Joyce says, "Jesus died to set the captives free, and far too many Christians have little or no victory in their daily lives." Finding herself in the same situation many years ago and having found freedom to live in victory through applying God's Word, Joyce goes equipped to set captives free and to exchange ashes for beauty. She believes that every person who walks in victory leads many others into victory. Her life is transparent, and her teachings are practical and can be applied in everyday life.

Joyce has taught on emotional healing and related subjects in meetings all over the country, helping multiplied thousands. She has recorded more than 230 different audio-cassette albums and over 75 videos. She has also authored 49 books to help the body of Christ on various topics.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT, February 28, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Help Me, I'm Married (Hardcover)
I found this book to not only be helpful in my marraige but I found that I could apply most of the things to different aspects of my life. Joyce speaks from her heart and explains why what she is saying very well. She also backs up her book with the Bible. I have found my entire household is more peaceful when I apply what she says. She makes it clear that you are in charge and you determine who is in control. She states that sometimes it is better to let the little things go, such a wet towel left on the bathroom floor, than to create a huge agreement with your spouse. Even if you are not having problems with your spouse you will find this book helpful. It has practical advice that can help strengthen your relationship.

This book is wonderful! Joyce is a very tell-it-like-it-is person, yet has a wonderful sense of humor. Her writing style keeps you interested while you are learning how to live (and have a good marriage) according to God's Word. If you are serious about applying God's Word to your marriage (which isn't easy for everyone), then this is the book for you!! I'm already seeing wonderful results in my own marriage! (And, by the way...being a submissive wife doesn't mean being your husband's slave... ;o) )
