A Desperately Needed Resource,
By Craig Alan Loewen "Craig Alan Loewen" (Pennsylvania, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Help! My Family's Messed Up (Paperback)
There is no debate that in our transitional culture, time-honored institutions such as the family are lying in ruins and that the primary victims are the children. It is the job of the Christian Church to not only address these issues, but hold out a hand to the victims of today's dysfunctional families to heal and restore.
Author Emily Parke Chase does not flinch from addressing the issues, nor does she sugarcoat the injuries or the answers. With years of face-to-face counseling sessions with those wounded by their own families, she boldly discusses subjects such as divorce, neglect, physical and emotional abuse, incest, alcoholism, drug addiction and other hot buttons that are destroying an entire generation, yet does so tactfully and with an evident heart for those in need. Best used in a group format such as a Sunday School class or youth group, Help! My Family's Messed Up!, is a valuable tool in the Church's arsenal in ministering to those most in need of it: today's children. |
