I'm a second grade teacher and luckily I found this book to talk about trust, gossiping and friendship with my children. amazing effect! They even wanted to create a role play based on the book!! We have analyzed it and take it to our personal situations. Great choice. Kids read it once and again. Five stars!!!

My sister gave this book to my four-year-old daughter last year, and it has quickly become one of our favorites. It's sweet, simple, and endearing, and has a wonderful message. Plus, there is a lot of dialog between the animal characters, which invites the reader to use silly voices, and makes it a fun read-aloud. My daughter shared it with her preschool class one day, and the teacher said it's become a class favorite as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book for young children, March 16, 2011
This review is from: Help!: A Story of Friendship (Hardcover)
I teach young children and I like the way this story warns about the dangers of gossip in a lighthearted, funny way. Mouse believes the gossip that Snake might hurt him, yet when Mouse falls in a deep hole, Snake is the only one who can help him get out - and he does, showing that he's a real friend. The story is told in an accessible, repetitive style - one animal after another hears about Mouse's situation, but can't get him out (until Snake comes along). Lots of opportunities for children to make animal sounds and join in the story. The illustrations are bold and colorful. This is a wonderful story for young children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Books for early readers, October 8, 2008

This review is from: Help!: A Story of Friendship (Hardcover)
One five year old twin granddaughter had selected Help!: A Story of Friendship to give to her school library on her birthday. But on that morning she changed her mind and decided to give the school a different choice. It's a cute story with a wonderful message that rings truer to me than ones from Dora or Hannah Montana. It would no doubt be a good addition to the Obamas library. Who knows, maybe it would be a book that Sarah Palin wanted banned. The list of banned books posted on our library's door right now includes all the Harry Potter series, which got so so many young people turned onto reading, and a slew of other well written jewels. Hope Holly Keller will keep writing*****
