I work for a government agency which isn't always known for drawing the best and brightest. This book has helped me understand the motivation (or lack of) behind my coworkers approach to their work ethic. I find this book a valuable resource that I turn to again and again as I make my way through different levels of my organization.

Having worked in the public, nonprofit and for profit sectors, I have found collaboration to be all too rare. Author Tom E. Jones spells out the conditions for successful teamwork. Leaders and followers each have their own dynamics that have the potential of blending in a mutually beneficial manner. This books offers a perspective on what it takes to work productively by focusing on tasks rather than personalities and styles. His chapters on levels of initiative, and assembling a team are priceless.
