The guys in the pawn shop are entertaining...you never know what people are going to come into the store with...often very interesting items are brought to sell!
James
I like to see what kind of things people try to get money for and how much they think their junk is worth.

Quick Take: Essentially, this is half a season for half the price. A non-sale, non-discounted price of 19.95 fits in line with almost six hours worth of DVD content. A full season, had it been released that way, would simply have doubled the asking price.

Last year, History and A&E Television made the dubious decision to start releasing Volumes of their most popular shows as opposed to Seasons. I was one of the most vocal opponents of this move and some of my scathing tirades can be found on those initial releases. In truth, though, I have nothing against the idea of volume releases (especially for shows that aren't held together by continuing plot threads) as long as three things are clear:

1) They need to be priced according to content and no more expensive individually than a season set would be.
2) Don't start releasing Full Seasons and then switch tactics mid-stream to confuse unsuspecting buyers.
3) If it isn't a season, all content needs to be disclosed on the DVD packaging so the consumer knows what they are getting!

Last year, many of these early Volume releases broke my second and third rule. I mean really! How can you release a DVD when it's not a full season and NOT tell buyers how many and which episodes are included? Absolutely unforgivable. I need that information to decide whether or not I want to purchase the set. As we have progressed, though, and the notion that we're to continue with Volume releasing has stayed with us, the point becomes rather more muddy. Now, we're past the second issue and the third issue has been corrected. All of these Volume releases now contain information about the content. So, there is no deception and no confusion. You get "x" number of episodes for "x" price. It's now up to you whether or not it's worth it.

I rated content 5 stars - however be careful , Volume 5 - ( IS NOT SEASON 5 ) it contains 16 episodes of season 2 which comes to 63 cents per episode being a good bargain.

Rick: How much you want for it?
Customer: $$$$
R. Before I make you an offer, let me call a buddy of mine that knows more about this item.
C. Ok, that's fine.
R. Ok, the expert says is legit. How much you want to get for it?
C. I'd like to get $$$$.
R. No, that's not gonna happen. I offer you $.
C. I'll go as low as $$$.
R. The most I can go is $$, and not a penny more.
C. Mmmmm.... You got a deal (shakes hands)
R. Let's got to the register... Chum Lee, write it up....

When I read the title, I thought how exciting could a show about a pawn shop be? I gave it a try and from the first episode I watched, I was hooked. The one feature that keeps me coming back is that you can never guess what item someone is going to bring to the store to sell. I am constantly amazed at what I see. Everything from a Civil War cannon to a modern day Lamborghini. Unlike other shows, whose storylines can get dull and predictable; Pawn Stars keeps you interested by providing a sense of anticipation about what that next "treasure" coming through the door will be.

I have the HDX 8.9" and really love this show. Being a Prime member, I especially enjoy getting certain seasons for free. Anyway, content wise the show is wonderful. It's always entertaining because you never know what someone is bringing in. Picturewise, the picture is excellent in HD. This is just a great investment in your entertainment.

I love pawn stars. It has really grown on me :) very interesting show- you learn a lot by seeing all the things that come into the shop because they tell you about the history or cultural relevance.

Fantastic Series.... Human Nature on Getting Something for Nothing and Trying to Pull One over on the Pawn Stars.... sometimes it works, but rarely. Pawn Stars are honest compared to the average Pawn Shops I've had experience with who purchase and pawn at a 15:1 Ratio.... YET some of their customers are always expecting way too much value when they are the sellers, almost laughable when they don't WANT the pawn Stars to make a Profit considering overhead and everything else, on something they picked up for FREE or at a Garage Sale.....Can't make Money Off of me....yet some of the Sellers to the Pawn Stars have Common Sense and are reasonable. The episodes of the Tough Guys from New York was hysterical, must have been decendents of the Lords of Flatbush.
