This is a dramatic album of deep soul songs. This is most evident on the scandalous hit single "Bill" which clearly tells a story of the man she loves that has a young secret lover which turns out to be another man. The remainder of the album is just as good. She has great vocals thoughout the cd.This is a real keeper that proves soul music is still alive and well.

THIS ALBUM BLEW ME AWAY. FROM THE FIRST CUT TO THE LAST ONE. I HAD NEVER HEAR OF THIS LADY BEFORE BUT WHEN I HEARD THIS ALBUM I BOUGHT TWO MORE AND SENT TO FRIENDS.

Every song on this album has it's own perspective and "Bill" is not the only one here that is unexpected but all-too-believable. "Slow Drag" is one of my all-time favorite hot dance numbers for three years now. Great music on the love/lust songs ("Burning," "I Don't Want to Steal It," etc.) and great lyrics too on the more atypical numbers about what happens when you're past all that ("You, Her, and His," "Help Yourself," "Cleaning House," etc.).
Anyone who loves this album should give a listen to Jimmy Lewis' album "Soulgasm" where Peggy and he do a fantastic duet, "See You Next Weekend."
If I could only have two soul albums from the modern era, I would choose these two.

the cut Bill had me rolling.Peggy Scott-Adams has strong music chops.it is showcased all thru this set.

I saw Peggy Scott at the Apollo Theatre opening for none other than Wilson Pickett. She brought the house down with "Every Little Bit Hurts" and left the audience screaming for more.

After her success as Peggy Scott with Jo Jo Benson, she left the business, but came back will "Bill" in the 90's. It was a strong "welcome back, girl!" This CD followed and it was a pleasant surprise -- every song good! No hip/hop or hints at it, just plain old SOUL MUSIC! Peggy said that between the time she left the soul scene, she married a funeral director and only sang gospel at final rites. Ray Charles happened to hear a demo she did for Jimmy Lewis, cancelled with another female singer who was to duet with him and asked for Peggy instead (the album is Ray Charles' WOULD YOU BELIEVE? on Warner Bros. Records, #26343-2). That is what brought her BACK TO SOUL as "Peggy Scott-Adams." She's been recording and performing every since. I love her. And this album is BURNIN'.

If romance is what you are after, all you need is the partner, and this will do the rest...
