There are much better books on children's grief,

This review is from: Helping Children Cope with Death (Paperback)
Because of what The Dougy Center is, I had high expectations when I received this book. I am sorry to say that I was seriously disappointed. Please, don't waste your money. There are a lot of books available on children's grief that provide a lot more information and understanding as to how one can help a grieving child. Alan Wolfelt, Phyllis Silverman, William Worden, or Virginai Fry have written books that are MUCH better.

This is an excellent resource,

This review is from: Helping Children Cope with Death (Paperback)
This book is an invaluable resource. I've recently lost my spouse and helping my young child understand death and the reactions that come along with it is overwhelming. I didn't have time to read long text books on how to help my child. This book summed it up for me in easy to understand terms and has been a beneficial resource to me and my child during this hard time. I highly recommend this book for anybody dealing with children in grief.

Talking about death should be fun,
By Phonie Clark (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Helping Children Cope with Death (Paperback)
My husband was brutally murdered in a drug deal while my daughter looked on in January. When I bought this book, I had high hopes that the colorful pictures and optimistic outlook would help cheer her up, but it had the opposite effect. Whereas before she believed in heaven and angels and all that, now she views death as the inescapable abyss into which we must all vanish forever. A better book is God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian
