Vehemence- Helping the World See,

4.5 Stars
Vehemence's Helping the World See is one of those albums with absolutely impeccable timing. With the original innovators of the melodic death subgenre (In Flames, Dark Tranquility) straying from death metal altogether, Vehemence comes along and proves that you don't have to sacrifice speed, agression, and brutality to incorporate melody into death metal. The production on this album is quite guitar heavy, with the bass relatively inaudible and the drums less prominent than on most death metal releases. However, after listening to the album a few times, I don't think this is a problem. While the drumming is tight and fast most of the time, the guitars are what really shine on this album. Guitarists Dannov and Chavez play some great riffs and leads on this album, creating songs with plenty of melody and aggression. Now on to the vocals. Some people are just not ever going to like death metal vocals, and if you're on of those people you're going to hate them on this album. Nathan Gearhart growls like he's posessed by the devil himself, while bassist Mark Kozuback provides some blood curtling screams to keep it interesting. It's a highly effective twin vocal attack that avoids the monotony of some death metal albums. I can't really think of many problems with this album. If you're looking for drums in the forefront, you may be a little dissapointed in the production. Some death metal fans are inevitably going to say that this isn't brutal enough, and some will not be able to get past what they see as excessive brutality. But all things considered, this is a great example of some talented musicians who remain heavy yet manage to slip melody in there as well. A great album.

Great album but can't quite match up to "god was created",

Helping the world to see is another great album from the band Vehemence. The songs are all well structured and stick in your head. The guitar playing is unbelievable, the drums are amazing, and the dual vocals are insane. Now, if you liked the cd before this one (God was created)then definately buy this one. In my personal opinion i think God was created was better. Thats their album. I dont think any album they make will ever compare to that one, but helping the world to see is still an amazing album!Stand out tracks on the album: 1,2,3,4,5,9 and 10 track 10 definately should have been longer than 3 minutes, they could have turned that into an epic!

The boys from Arizona are back with a new full length and this is the best yet from these guys. Although this came out in 2004 and I just bought it recently in june 2005 yet it still rules. I don't think that this is the dreaded "sophomore slump" at all. This is how modern metal anno 2004-05 should sound. Brutal and complex yet full of simple, yet not overpowering melody. While a lot of bands these days are using melody and inadvertently sacrificing their brutality and selling out, This band uses melody to add a dimension to their brutal sound, which bands should try to do more often. The album itself is basically flawlessly executed from start to finish. The drums are clear yet the guitars are thick. The lyrics are much more thought out and deeper in terms of meaning. All in all, this is thus far the defining record of this young bands career.

Vehemence did one good job on this album. they're the only death metal band I know that does one song as if it is the beginning of a power ballad (hair metal bands, eat your heart out.)and then BOOM! turn it into a slamfest. they ought to come out with a new album. I have one complaint, but not against the album. the complaint is, I don't have a computer to access the multimedia material on this disc.

Great Album.,

This album reminds me of a greatest hits album. That's how good it is. The quality of each song is very high. You've got two vocalists: one is a growler and the other has a banshee-like screech. Both of them are very good. The music is death metal. Its brutal, yet melodic and catchy. The songs are all distinctly different from each other. I think I even heard some piano in there. But don't let that fool you. Even though there's melody and catchiness, its still rock hard death metal at the core. And with a list price of only $10, you can't go wrong. Seriously, I love metal-particularly death-and this is one of the best extreme metal albums that I've ever heard. Because of the variation and quality of songwriting, you probably won't be bored by it. So give it a try.

Thanks lord for the creation of death metal, and bands like Vehemence got the chance to show the world how the music is to be. In this album, the production is very clear and so is the record. Good musicianship with change of tempos.

I'm a fan of many genres of music, and real melodic death metal is probably my favorite when done correctly. Vehemence has done it correctly twice now, and this is one of my favorite cd's in my collection. If you like these guys and don't know about vital remains, check them out as well. This is a great album.

good but not great,

This album has a lot of awesome stuff on it but its not as good as God Was Created. This album sounds too much like typical death metal and GWC was incredibly original. Don't get me wrong, I still love it and love this band but they need to go back to being as original as they were on GWC.

Vehemence is one of my favorite bands because of their catchy songs and interesting lirycs to follow along. Defenely an epic sound blending some deathmetal/metalcore all together which all blended in together? Its a killer and you can even tell it was influenced by cof in a way, because of the piano on the song "you dont have to be afraid anymore", i assume if your a fan of great and epic bands like opeth, cradel of filth, between the buried and me,black dahlia murder, and, from a second story window then you'll have no problem buying vehemence's "helping the world to see" a great mix between deathmetal, metalcore, and a lil bit of blackmetal to top it off... Buy it !

Vehemence hail from Arizona and are here to kick some major ass. With the newest release HELPING THE WORLD TO SEE they have gone more with the melodic death metal side and less with the brutal death metal. I do not mean this in a bad way. With a sound that reminds me of Carcass, At The Gates, and even Suffocation, this band is not to be missed. They are an underground act waiting to explode onto the metal scene. visit the bands website at www.vehemence.com and go to www.pivotalrage.com to read interviews conducted with Andy, Bjorn and John. One of the best releases of 2004 if not the best.
