4.0 out of 5 stars good for physical and learning disabilities, July 10, 2001

This review is from: Helping Your Special Needs Child : A Practical and Reassuring Resource Guide (Hardcover)
The book is a good start for parents with children who have learning or physical disabilities. It covers doctors, education, support systems, siblings, and an assortment of odds and ends like travel, sexuality, illness, driving, ect. Very easy to read and comprehend. It offers step by step guidance in becoming an advocate for your child. I do, however, feet it really lacked in dealing with emotional handicaps (after stating on the cover that this was covered). Since this was my main reason for buying the book, I was kind of disappointed. Some of the information can be applied to emotional special needs, but I would only recommend the book to parents of children struggling with physical special needs or learning disabilities.
