5.0 out of 5 stars Multiparameter Diagnostic Approach, March 16, 2009
This review is from: Hematopathology: Morphology, Immunophenotype, Cytogenetics, and Molecular Approaches (Hardcover)
Modern diagnostic hematopathology relies on a combined approach using morphology, immunophenotyping (immunohistochemistry and flowcytometry) and molecular studies (cytogenetics, FISH and molecular genetics). Other standard textbooks in hematopathology primarily focused on morphology and immunophenotyping. Dr. Naeim's textbook marks an important shift in the approach to diagnostic hematopathology by combining all three modalities and discussing their strengths and weaknesses.

The first section of the book covers basic morphogenesis and principles of immunophenotyping and molecular studies. The next section covers myeloid and lymphoid neoplasms based on the new WHO classification. The last section focuses on benign hematology of the white cells, red cells and platelets. The highlight of the book is the profusion of high quality images (about 540), tables and illustrations. The authors are respected authorities in their areas. This book is as an excellent introduction to the integrated approach to diagnostic hematopathology for trainees, practicing pathologists, hematologists and oncologists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hematopathology, February 27, 2009
This review is from: Hematopathology: Morphology, Immunophenotype, Cytogenetics, and Molecular Approaches (Hardcover)
This is an excellent reference book which provides over 500 high quality photomicrographs along with well-written text. This book also includes most recent advances in the molecular pathology and provides a multidisciplinary approach for practicing pathologists and residents to understand both malignant and non-malignant hematologic disorders. I found this book is very useful for my daily practice and teaching, which assists me to address issues that I could not find appropriate answers from old books. I highly recommend this book to my colleagues and residents.
