This review is from: Hemingway in Spain (Amazon Instant Video)
How should I even begin to explain the faults of the brief snippet I caught of this film? My husband and I, who are avid viewers of documentaries and films on a wide range of subjects, watched 10 minutes of this film before turning it off. The problems?
-anachronistic pictures of alluring women. This is what first got to me. If you're going to represent photos of women Hemingway would have possibly slept with, don't go for the 80s and 90s Playboy-grade issue. Not contemporary. -poor sound. Don't open a film with a narration that can't be heard over the orchestral arrangement. -don't insult the viewer's intelligence. If you can't afford to show a variety of graphics to illustrate your point, then please don't create a video, but rather a soundtrack. Buyer beware: the viewer sees a background text, shown repeatedly from left to right, as if we were to read it over and over again. After 5 minutes of being exposed to this graphic, my head began to ache. After 10 minutes of the same image, I stopped the video. My word! The shame! !Que verguenza! |
