My first ever time hearing Fuel ..., July 12, 2001
This review is from: Hemorrhage (in My Hands) (Audio CD)
I've just heard of Fuel today, and this song "In My Hands" was sugggested to me, but I was warned they sound like Creed. I heard them, and I think musically, they are excellent. The singer uses very projective fairly strong lyrics ... in fact sometimes they are quite heart wrenching. If like me, you enjoy sitting listening to grunge and almost relating to what the singer is talking about, this is a great song, (*In MY Hands*) for you... they are what I call melodic grunge... the music is very well controlled. Volume levels - there are great contrasts, beginning quite softly with clean guitar brings it into a build-up as the lyrics get more painful... and it increases in volume. Its a great song I think to just sit and listen to when you're a bit miserable. I guess you could compare them a little bit to Pearl Jam, but they are much much better then Creed certainly... ...!! But as regards this Fuel cd, its well worth the money - they are excellent at writing heart aching lyrics and you can get completely lost in the music - i think it's well worth the money... dont be afraid of wasting it, not at all wasted if you purchase this cd! Cress ...

Did I mention I really, really love Fuel?, August 2, 2004
This review is from: Hemorrhage (in My Hands) (Audio CD)
It comes as no great suprise, I suppose, that 'Hemorrhage (in my hands)' is FUEL's most popular song in existance. Cuz I mean, quite honestly, it's the greatest song ever recorded in the history of humankind, so yeah, of course it was such a monster success. Yeah, I can see that.
This single features THAT song(obviously), as well as three others: 'Easy', another song from the "Somthing Like Human" record, 'Going to California', a LED ZEPPLIN cover also featured on the expanded addtion of "Something Like Human", and a song from way back when FUEL was just starting out, 'Stripped Away', or just 'Stripped'.
'Easy' is simply an incredibly atmospheric song, slow, soft and almost sinister in it's churning execution, making it probably the most underappreciated gem in FUEL's current catalogue.
The LED ZEPPLIN cover is fantastic, featuring only an acoustic guitar with Brett's vocals, which easily makes for a beautiful rendition of this already fantastic song.
Possibly my new favorite song in existance is 'Stripped Away'. This, my friends, is the kind of song every ridiculously hard-core FUEL fan dreams of discovering. A mesmerizing lead riff kicks of with Brett's vocals starting up soon after, with a vocal melody of such honest and simple magnificence that one can hardly digest it with one listen. Everything about the song is perfection. If it had been written by LED ZEPPLIN or some other such band, it would no doubt be hailed as one of the greatest songs ever written. And yes, it IS that good.
If you can appreciate the diversity of FUEL's music even a tiny bit, get this. Or "Sunburn". Or "Something Like Human". Or "Natural Selection". Or the 'Shimmer' single. Or the 'Falls on Me' single. Or the FUEL dvd. Or just get them all. 5 stars.
