Book Description

November 1994
Why are there brown spots on the leaves of my tomato plant? What are those small green bugs on my roses? How can I prevent mold from growing on the leaves of my squash plant? Every gardener is in a constant struggle against insects and diseases that attack their plants. Beloved plants can also be stunted or killed by nutrient deficiencies and environmental stresses. Now, every gardener has a new weapon in his or her arsenal!

Ed Rosenthal's Protect Your Garden: Eco-Friendly Solutions for Healthy Plants is an easy-to-use troubleshooting guide that helps you identify and eliminate things that want to harm your plants. Over one hundred full-color photographs help you determine exactly what is plaguing your flowers and edible plants. Protect Your Garden then provides easy and safe solutions.

Protect Your Garden divides problems into four distinct groups: pest infestations, plant diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stresses. Each section depicts the major threats and the types of plants susceptible to the problem. This format is perfect for both readers with specific problems they want to identify and solve quickly as well as gardeners looking for preventative advice.

All the solutions presented in Protect Your Garden are eco-friendly, family-safe and suitable for gardens containing edible plants. Ed believes gardeners protecting their plants should not use methods that may be harmful to them, their families, or the environment. All of the solutions provided are natural, non-toxic, often creative ways to protect or heal your plants.

Ed Rosenthal has been writing about safe and simple gardening solutions for nearly 40 years and is relied upon by many for advice on the most expensive commercial crop, cannabis. Now all gardeners can be confident that they are receiving the most effective methods to protect their favorite plants in ways that are safe to them and safe to their harvest. Part troubleshooting guide, part reference book, and part photo guide, this is the perfect book for any gardener who wants to make sure their plants thrive!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very factual, good appendix, well written, too repetitive, October 15, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Hemp Today (Paperback)
This book strikes a good balance between being factual and advocating a cause. It contains much technical information and historical trivia that is entertaining as well as enlightening. The appendix contains a number of articles that would be difficult to locate elsewhere, some going back to the early 1900s, which provide historical perspective but yet have uncanny relevance for today. Since it presents writings by a number of authors, its only drawback is a great deal of repetition about basic items (such as differences between hemp grown for seed or fiber). Slightly dated in view of the large amount of research and political activity since 1994. Any updated information about the Schlickten (sp?) fiber/hurd separator machine would be welcom.
