Just another can opener,
By A Customer
This review is from: Henckels Euro Can Opener (Kitchen)
Well, it does its job. Nothing extraordinary, however. It looks quite nice in my utensil drawer, but not enough to warrant the [amount] I paid for it. I have used Henckels products in the past and have been quite impressed with their quality, and was expecting the same from this can opener. I was hoping especially that unlike the can openers I have used in the past, it would not be prone to rusting. However after about a month of use the blade and the inner workings had begun to rust, making it difficult to turn the handle. Usually spending the extra money for something nicer pays off, but this time it didn't.

Works Great But There's Something You Should Now,
By A Customer
This review is from: Henckels Euro Can Opener (Kitchen)
This is the best can opener I've used- I've had it for about five years and it works as well as the day I bought it. On a lot of cheaper can openers the cutter is tangential to the can. On this opener, the force is directed toward the center of the cutting wheel. There is something of a trick to using it. After you squeeze the handle to penetrate the can, relax your grip on the handle as you turn the wheel. Otherwise it turns hard.

WELLL....after perusing opinions on various products, some that I own, some that I'm interested in purchasing, I ran across the critique of "A VIEWER FROM Flagstaff, AZ, USA--Jan. 12,2002".I,too own this Henckel Can Opener. We'll refer to it as "OLD RUSTY"...Indeed, I would have thought that this item--made by Henckel would work wonderfully and last a lifetime! NOT THE CASE. We have many Henckel knives and tools. Most of them are great. This stupid "old Rusty" is ready for the trash. However, I think I should mail it back to Henckel. I might mention that my husband and I take very good care of our kitchen ware. I even collect vintage and antique kitchen implements, as well as high quality modern stuff. "old Rusty" DOES NOT fit in that category. I think it may be easier to open cans with my teeth! We have had this piece for several years. I never thought I would grow to despise it! The above mentioned can opener is stiff, dull, rusted and as the other person mentioned, was quite pricey. I don't mind pricey if something is really good. This was expensive junk.

A fix for a stuck Henckels Euro Can Opener,

Recently my can opener got really hard to use. I've loved it so I searched for a new on on Amazon. When it was not available I decided to try to fix mine. I cleaned it carefully with a stiff toothbrush and then covered the working parts with olive oil and let it sit. After I washed off the oil it works like new.
