Professional Cook Likes it, little small though,

I'm a professional cook and have to carry and keep my knives at work...It fits my 14" carver, honing steel, 10 serrated bread, and 8" chef's knife and carving fork well...but that already takes up 5 slots....I end up stacking my paring knife with my peeler, baller, zester, pens and thermometers together....This is a good beginner knife case...a little expensive, but a placeholder until your ready to plunk down bigger bucks for a larger case.

A very practical and inexpensive way to carry your knives if you're a "cook on the go." 7 slots should be more than enough to carry your essential knives, sharpening steel and maybe tongs, a peeler and/or a zester - it also has a slot to accomodate a cleaver. The Henckels Roll is a generous 19 inches long, which could, conceivably, allow you to carry even your Woodman's Pal. Remember, you'll still need to keep your knives protected with blade guards, otherwise you'll cut into the roll - an extra expense which you need to take into account. Finally, I feel that, had they included a handle, it would have made for a superior product.

I bought this because i was looking for a less bulky bag to carry my knives in. This roll does the job nicely. Its really good quality, with leather outside, and nylon and elastic insides, there even a flap in one end to keep the knife at the very end form being exposed when rolled. Good product

This product is good for the money. It is a little longer than I figured it would be. I put it in my backpack and it sticks out the top. Over-all the quality of the item is quite good and is a nice entry-level knife roll.

Title really says it all - it's a really thick, well constructed knife roll, but it's massive. Maybe if I had a sword it would be the right size...

I got this as a small knife roll to carry with me to working interview, as a light case for culinary school, and as a professional case for work. The case looks quite sleek. It has 7 pockets, (elastic topped, with mesh) one large enough for my to carry a pair of culinary scissors in, but most about standard knife handle size. It has a fold-over top and side flap (both made of canvas) to prevent things from accidentally sliding out, and the velcro straps are adjustable by several inches as well. I have carried it tightly rolled with just knives in it, as well as still being able to carry a wire whisk and 2 oz. ladle in it when I needed. It was well worth the $25 I got it for, figuring in professional appearance and practicality, especially when pricing it against most of the others I saw.

I use this Knife roll to store any seldom used knives in my set. The roll is high quality but rather long and hard to store. Check the measurements prior to purchase. Good Quality for the price.

I bought this knife roll to transport my knives because I like to have them for cooking in a rented condo. It does the trick, but it is bigger than I expected.

My wife has been using this knife storage roll for over 2 years now, both personally and professionally, and it has seen quite a bit of use. However, it still looks and feels as sturdy as it was when it first arrived! The materials are thick and of good quality, and the craftsmanship has held up wonderfully for years now.
It may not be the biggest, or have all the features of some of the newer (and more expensive) knife storage solutions, but for the cost the J.A. Henckels 7-Slot knife storage roll is great. If you don't need more than 7 Slots then you should definitely check it out!

If you are just starting out in the food industry or have a limited budget this is a good way to tote around your knives. For the german battle-axes (what i like to call my henckles pro-s set) it's just fine, however i don't feel this case provides adequate protetion for higher-end knives, and when I upgraded, I also upgraded my knife roll. I would recommend blade guards with any case, also. my battle axes got a little scratched up from not realizing that. I gave this to somebody at work after i had used it about a year and a half, and they are still using it, and it seems to still be in pretty good shape, especially for the price. it was a good starter but I do prefer my messermeister case.Messermeister 8-Pocket Knife Roll, Black.
