Packed in a beautiful wood storage box, the eight knives in this set slice steaks, chops, or roasts and, because they're stainless steel, they match stainless-steel flatware at the dinner table. The knives have 4-inch blades cleverly angled to prevent wrist strain while applying maximum pressure. The edges are serrated so they do tend to tear meat fibers rather than slicing cleanly through them as straight-edge steak knives do. Stamped from high-carbon stainless steel, the knives have 18/10 stainless-steel handles and are dishwasher-safe. The storage box is heirloom quality, with a glowing, deep-auburn mahogany finish. Knives rest in wood slots at an angle that makes them easy to retrieve. The box measures 15 inches long, 5 inches wide, and 1-3/4 inches deep and has brass clasps. For each sale of this gift set, Henckels makes a five-dollar donation to Share Our Strength, an antihunger program initiated and supported by U.S. professional chefs. --Fred Brack

I was looking to get a quality set of steak knives at a reasonable price. These knives are sharp, balanced and easy to use, obviously well made. My family is delighted with them.

The wood presentation box is a nice touch.

All in all, a very good value.

The knives are very nice looking and fit well with our flatware pattern and feel nice in your hand. The knives don't cut especially smoothly--tears the meat somewhat but gets the job done. The serrations seem larger and further apart than other steak knives I've used so maybe that's the difference? Overall I'm very pleased with them and may purchase another set for when we have larger parties.
