Great board for large roasts, turkeys, etc. We got ours as a gift last Christmas. We took it out to carve our turkey yesterday and it is cracked all the way through. I admit, I never oiled it. Also, don't expect the best quality Henkels knife to be included. I am looking for another board and this time I will be sure to surpass the boards that include a carving knife and fork since they are not nearly as good as my own cutlery.

I read a prior review where it was said that the board "cracked all the way through." I have owned this board for years and not a crack or even the beginning of one. I believe this is a quality board and carving set. We handle and maintain the board like any quality kitchen tool making certain not to immerse the board in water, wash the knife and fork by hand returning them to the provided slots, and store the board in a cupboard away from heat with the rest of our cutting boards.

Carving set: My husband is picky about keeping our other Henckel's knives sharp and says the knife that comes with this board has only needed a touch up from slicing into a bone once. It keeps a nice edge. The fork is flat versus curved and is sharp and easy to use.

Wood: The wood of the board is hard, but not hard enough to eliminate getting a few marks from the knife after much use over the years.

Style: So handy! Having the carving knife and fork stored in the board eliminates a guest in the kitchen from having to search for a carving set and makes my life easier too.

Price: We just carved up an 18 pound turkey today and my mother-in-law liked it so much I decided to buy one for her mother's day present. The price is substantially lower than when I purchased it at $115 years ago. At $40, I will buy more for gifts next year!
